Porn passports in France and who knows where else

It might be in France for now but it will spread across the whole of Europe if this comes into law.

All they need is less freedom to watch porn as they look at higher gas bills and prices for everything.

Some of them old French films had good sex scenes I think they like sex over there why ruin it for people living in France.

The problem is that its completely unenforceable. France only has jurastiction over websites hosted in france

Its down to the website owners to implement this passport thing. Imagine if they had to block all the pornsites NOT hosted in France. That could be MILLIONS of websites and the uproar would be huge.

Plus there's the fact that anyone with a VPN can bypass it

Its a complete waste of time trying to censor the internet in a democracy. Politicians say they are going to block porn to win votes but they all know that if they actually tried to do it, they would be out of office in a heartbeat

I remember when they tried to do this in the UK a few years back with ATVOD. They even got as far as naming a date when it was going to become law but nobody had thought about how it would actually work

Just how do you verify a users age ???

There was a mass panic with people like Pornhub, AgeID and several others setting up age verification companies where users could verify their age via their passport, phone bill or buying a "porn pass" over the counter in their local newsagent. They would then get an access token that they would have to enter on the website

Problem was that each system had their own access tokens so if the user had verified with say AgeID and your site was integrated with Pornhub then it wouldn't work. Thats not to mention the whole issue of iframe content where your site is using one system but the iframe content is on another system !!

Plus this only applied in the UK so it meant EVERY website anywhere in the world had to filter out their UK traffic and block it with a popup or risk their site being blocked. Sales of geoip software went through the roof !

Then a week before the due date they realised it wouldn't work and scrapped the whole thing.

We had all wasted a lot of time and money for nothing !
