UK government to block Scottish bill on legally changing gender easier

Here is a first:

"It will be the first ever use a Section 35 order, which stops a Scottish bill from becoming law."

In a nutshell what this law was about:

"The aim of the bill is to simplify and speed up the existing process by which people can obtain a gender recognition certificate (GRC) to change their legally recognised gender.

The changes lower the age that people can apply for a GRC from 18 to 16.

They also remove the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria, with applicants only needing to have lived as their acquired gender for three months rather than two years - or six months if they are aged 16 or 17."

What just happened the government ministers grew some balls ( pun may be intentional or unintentional take your pick) and invoked a Section 35 to do the right thing, this is amazing. It is the right decision, I have to hand it to Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer for agreeing on this. Eighteen is young enough to make this kind of choice, and I hear Sunak and co will try reduce the fallout making the proposed UK legislation to ban conversion therapy, including for transgender people happen sooner than later.

I also see a lot of Scottish Nationalists getting pissed off on the UK government for using Section 35 to over ride their Bill, but tough shit.

And finally this is going to make a lot of Scots in kilts upset too but I refer to my previous opinion above, tough shit.

This will fuel the Scottish separatist movement even more. They will demand another vote to break away from the UK.
