Louisiana now requires age verification to visit porn sites
This is the South
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 971038002/
"Starting Sunday, commercial porn sites in Louisiana will have to verify their users are 18 or older or risk being sued.
Verification can be done using government-issued IDs or public or private records from a mortgage, education or employment, according to the bill. The bill, known as Act 440, was introduced by Republican state legislator Laurie Schlegel of Metairie in February and signed into law by Gov. John Bel Edwards in June."

This industry needs to organize an effective lobby in state Houses just as other trade groups have done.

Would it be a bad thing if every visitor to a porn site was credit card verified, that would mean they have a card to use, and might mean ore sales.

When will politicians EVER understand how the internet works ???? This is exactly the same thing that they tried here in the UK a few years ago. They had to abandon it because there is one HUGE problem with trying to legislate porn like this :-
This is for sites hosted in Louisiana. They dont have ANY jurastiction outside the state so closing down the handful of sites actually hosted in Louisiana is going to have ZERO impact on how much porn kids can see. Which is the whole point of the legislation
Unless the entire world does it all at the same time then its meaningless
None of us want kids seeing our content but the ONLY way to prevent it is through parental controls. Yes kids can bypass the parental controls using VPNs so put parental controls on the VPNs aswell. Hell of a lot easier than trying to legislate the entire world !
I imagine this law will be turned over in a heartbeat

They finally realized it was a non starter.
Hosting companies will not love it, they will see porn sites leave the state and get hosting elsewhere. This is for sites hosted in Louisiana. Parents and guardians are the ones who should be educating and raising their children, no law can take the place of a parent.
Hopefully sensible heads will prevail up the jurisdiction ladder.I imagine this law will be turned over in a heartbeat

OMFG I just got done reading the article. Sounds like a waste of paper. They call that a law? Sounds like garbage to me. "Someone can sue"? WTF. Porn sites are the biggest data miner? Really! Porn sites can't retain any data after verification? So how are they supposed to defend themselves when "someone" sues them? The idiocy of this "law" damn near leaves me speechless. Fucking moron!greatpornlinks wrote: ↑December 31st, 2022, 9:14 amThis is the South
