I would not count on pop-unders working for too much longer
Popups are almost always blocked by the browser and it wont be long before they also block the pop-unders. By pop-unders i mean those that open the site in a new page and then re-direct the opening page
But there is ANOTHER way to do it with scroll-unders.
ie your first page has the open site link at the top and the sponsor add page at the bottom. Then instead of re-directing the opening page, you simply scroll it up so the sponsor add is in view when they close the new page
Much easier to do and far less likely to be blocked. Infact it can all be done with just a line or two of javascript, something like this
change 500 to whatever length you need to scroll by

Just realised i missed a bit out in that code.
You have to set the target="_blank" so that your site opens in a new window. Like this

I look at popunders as a cost benefit analysis. Is it worth annoying my visitors with a pop and not getting them to come back to my sites?
You need a lot of popunders to make any money in 2022.
So I decided not to go with them any more.

We find pop-unders easily the worst converting traffic we get. Anywhere from 1 in 10k to 1 in 30k
Scroll unders tend to perform better as at least the users has to click something. Much less through traffic but at least you know the user wants to see more so much more likely to convert

do not waste your time with popunders unless you are real big in traffic.
