Her resignation speech outside number 10 was as short as her tenure as pm lol and that was too long lol. It is about time she packed up and vacated number 10, actually 44 days too long. She totally messed up the British financial markets and economy.
Good ridannce to her.
Mordaunt not sure the Tory's will look at her and say she is experienced enough this time round, that said she might get the nod she did quite well a few weeks ago in the contest.
Wallace has said last time round he was not interested.
Hunt has said he isn't interested.
Sunak lost last time round to Truss, and without being accused of racism which I am not, I do not see him simply because of his skin clour, I actually think he would do a good job.
Braverman for the same reason as I said for Sunak.
Who is left????
Boris Johnson,I really think he might get in again.
This is becoming more fun to watch than Coronation Street and EastEnders combines

I see it like this.
Whatever you think of Boris Johnson, love him or hate him.....WE VOTED FOR HIM !!! And by a landslide
And who the hell are they to overturn our vote ????
They're only hope is to get Boris back in my opinion. He is the only one with a mandate from the public

Absolutely, he won a mandate in the general election, Truss was appointed by the Conservative party, now the next one whoever he or she may be will be picked by the party again. I know it seems wrong in a democracy that an unelected PM is placed in power but that is how the parliamentary system of government works. The party still has a working majority in parliament, otherwise there would be a call for a vote of no confidence and then a general election would take place.tacnet wrote: ↑October 20th, 2022, 5:59 pmI see it like this.

Labour is so way a head and everyone knows this, if there was a general election they would win with a landslide majority. I have seen polls putting labour 30 points a head of the Tories. Why Sir Keir Starmer was out there again today saying there should be a general election.
A couple of not so significant observations, for some reason kids with a middle name get to rich high places.
For example:
Mary Elizabeth Truss
Sir Keir Rodney Starmer
Another piece of useless fact I thought up just now is eventually a good portion of ex-prime ministers eventually get a knight hood but Sir Keir Stamer already has one

Your system is more like Canada than ours, we have a presidential election every 4 years, not one picked by the party.

Well I was wring Johnson has decided not to run and Rishi Sunak appears to be the next PM, really surprised. Why did Johnson cut his vacation short fly in to London if he was not sure he would get the party nomination. Oh well that's politics for you.

This is a strange situation now
During the first race just 6 weeks ago, the MPs had Rishi Sunak way out in front. But when the vote was opened to the wider party members, they overwhelmingly REJECTED him !!!!
Now the MPs have him out in front again and it looks like they are simply going to ignore the fact that the party members dont want him. Infact polls show that most of the tori party members wanted Boris Johnson. (It was the MPs who kicked him out, not the tory party members)
So here we are, about to have a Prime Minister that most of the party voted AGAINST !!

Yep this whole thing has turned out to be a joke, not sticking up for Boris but he actually won the general election, neither Liz nor Sunak have been party leader so they have no vote to lead the country from the people. Why Boris came back to England and then had a change of heart is a mystery to me. I can see why he would not be popular with the people who booted him out but I am sure he had thought of that before coming back to run for the top job.tacnet wrote: ↑October 24th, 2022, 8:39 amThis is a strange situation now

Here is another idea just popped into my head, maybe he realized the economic mess is so bad and things do not look too good on the energy front as Winter approaches, why not let Sunak or Mordaunt be the next pm who can not solve these issues, he can come back when they fail. Let the past problems that got him out of office get a little forgotten. I mean there is no magic pill that will solve all the economic woes the country is facing.
Justa thought.

Yeah I am sure he realised that if he went for it and lost then that would effectively be the end of his political career.TheButcher wrote: ↑October 24th, 2022, 8:47 amYep this whole thing has turned out to be a joke, not sticking up for Boris but he actually won the general election, neither Liz nor Sunak have been party leader so they have no vote to lead the country from the people. It annoys me because as Boris stated in his letter, if the vote was open to the wider party members (ie those that are closest to the public) then he would likely win it. But then a lot of MPs would start resigning because they were the ones that forced him out in the first place, and the whole party gate thing would be all over the news again.
The tory party have really shot themselves in the foot again. Just like then they dragged Thatcher out of office and then promptly lost power

I think you are right someone one talked in his ear said you might get in but the MP's in government will revolt and we will be at a general election in no time, and with Labour riding so high in the polls they will win a clear cut majority. I have seen polls putting labour at 39% a head of the Tories the day after Truss resigned, they are definitely set to win if there was an election in the next few weeks.
Talking of thatcher, most PM's ride high in popularity, until they get kicked out of office, the cycle repeats itself.

The only thing that can save the Tories now is if they win a war between now and the next election. Remember Thatcher was on her way out till the Falklands thing kicked off
And we just so happen to be in a war so who knows

War is good for votes and business, not so good for the regular person getting killed in the country where war is happening, but does any one really care about them, it is all about lining up he pockets of the military industrial donors, so yep you might be right sir.
