Is this a scam or what
So had a user email me today asking for me to change his login details because apparently theyve been hacked
Problem was, the email he sent it from wasnt the email we have on file so i asked him to email me from the email he used when he signed up
He said that he had deleted that email address and no longer had access to it. So I asked him what was the original email address ?
He gave me an email which again WASNT the email we have on file.
So i asked him to confirm the credit card number he used when he signed up. He gave me a credit card number that DOESNT match the one used to sign up
Now he's insisting that we cancel his account but Im refusing because so far he hasnt produced a shred of evidence to confirm that he is the guy who actually signed up
What user cant remember his email or credit card number ??? Even the name on his email doesnt match the name we have

Sounds fishy to me, he doesn't know any of the information he used to register to the site.
Email the account holder ask them if they contacted you about a cancellation.
Another thing cancellations are cheaper in the long run than charge backs.

Yep ive updated the password and sent it to the original email address. Also asking him if he is the one contacting us.
Account has definitely been hacked. So far its been accessed from the USA, Turkey, Spain and UK
We get hacked accounts every day but its not often the hackers have the balls to email us directly asking us to change stuff lol
ps. not hacked from us i hasten to add

My guess some religious wack job from one of those countries is anti-porn and is hacking to get accounts closed. I may be wrong.

My money is on this. The person emailing you to cancel the account was not the same person who signed up in the first place.

Nope. I reset the password and sent it to the original email address but heard nothing back
Originally the guy didnt want to cancel, he wanted to change his login details. It was only when i told him that none of his information was checking out that he asked us to just cancel it.
There's no way im going to cancel it on the word of a complete stranger who cant give me one shred of evidence that he is who he says he is
So the account is still active and interestingly he hasnt logged in since so who knows lol

Another possibility if his mail was hacked and he has no access to it any more he will not have received your email.tacnet wrote: ↑July 20th, 2022, 10:29 pmNope. I reset the password and sent it to the original email address but heard nothing back
