Britain wants an end to the barrage of cookie consent pop-ups.
Just seen this on the news.
Apprently the UK government is considering dropping the requirement for websites to get consent for cookies.
Under EU law, the user has to consent to cookies every time they visit a site (hence all those annoying popups). But now the UK will assume the user has opted IN unless the user specifically opts OUT.

About bloody time too. Every website on the planet uses cookies

You really believe the UK will dump this law, I doubt it.

My guess is they will drop it and other countries might well follow.
There's really no point in it anymore as pretty much every website uses cookies and users must be getting fed up with having to click 'approve' over and over again.
Right now its just a meaningless "forced popup" that EVERY site has to have. All it does is interrupt the users browsing experience
I reckon the politicians will soon realise that the internet would be a whole lot quicker and a whole lot easier to use if they just got rid of it
Just my opinion

I dont understand why the politicians insisted on the cookie consent law in the first place ???? I realise its all to do with Data Protection and having to have consent for holding data on someone
But surely somebody would have told them that EVERY website uses cookies and it was simply going to lead to mass popups everywhere ????
I think once one country drops it then they all will

Politicians don;t think they do what their donors dictate them to do or what their advisors think will get them more votes at the next election or by-election. And anytime they bash on porn or what appears to be protecting/helping the average person they do. Most of the time it is all bull.tacnet wrote: ↑June 27th, 2022, 4:13 pmI dont understand why the politicians insisted on the cookie consent law in the first place ???? Im not so sure you know. If he think other countries will follow his lead (which I think they would) then he could portray himself as "the guy that sorted out the internet"Britporn_Mike wrote: ↑June 28th, 2022, 8:21 pmBoJo has so much on his mind he might forget about this one
And it would be a "fuck you" to the EU because its an EU law so it would be easy for the UK to change, but practically impossible for the EU to change cos they would have to get all 27 countries to agree (and they cant agree on fuck all lol)

Good point let's hope they get rid of it for any nefarious reason they might have.tacnet wrote: ↑June 28th, 2022, 9:32 pmIm not so sure you know.
