I stopped reading the article as soon as saw "page rank" because Google did away with page rank in 2016. There are some who say Google might be using an internal page rank in the algorithm but as far as we know on the outside PR is dead for us.

Butcher this idea they still make use of PR for their own ranking has been in my mind ever since they supposedly canceled it, you may be right.
