Is that okay or is it considered content unauthorized use of content?

No you should first get it in writing from the copyright holder.

We've had this question a few times over the years where affiliates have asked us if its ok for them to go into our members area and create their own promo content.
A couple of times we said yes only to find that they had ripped hundreds of our full length videos just to fill up their website
So now we have gone the other way and provide thousands of promo videos and galleries that our affiliates can use in whatever way they like (Last count was 25,000 galleries and 12,500 videos) but members area content is strictly off limits
So in answer to your question, if it is content that is specifically provided for affiliates then i would say yes, use it to promote their site. But if its members area content then the answer would be NO
hope that helps

Depends. I would contact your sponsor and show them how you wish to use the content for approval first.
We have allowed affiliates to use our content to make their own banners before, but it can only be used to promote our product.

In theory it seems fine but since the content is not yours you need to ask for permission.

I ask so they know and okay it, it is only right to ask someone if you want to use their content.

I will not mention the sponsors name but they threatened to sue me for copyright theft for the simple sin of mine, using screen captures of their sites to use in my blog posts, those screen caps were linked to their sites using my affiliate links.
