[BUSINESS] minimum payments even legal?

So many sponsors refuse to pay out when I request an account close, they hide behind some terms where they set a high minimum payout, is this even legal.

Any time you are asked to sign a contract you are responsible to read, understand and agree to the terms. If they say the minimum amount to be paid is one billion dollars and you agreed you can not go back complain when it does not suit you. Do I agree with sponsors refusing to pay an affiliate if they are told by the affiliate they no longer wish to be part of the program, it really does not matter what you me or anyone else thinks, a contract is a legally binding agreement between the parties.

I have talked to many sponsors over the years where a member here wanted to cash out below their minimum amount and in every case they were paid, it is how you approach the sponsor. A little explanation and politeness never fails, if you start out rude well it usually does not go in your favour.

At the end of last year I got Colmike7 his $500 which they were not paying him.And 2 weeks ago I gt Chris his $266 to end his relationship with a program that had a $300 minimum that they were sticking to.

This has been going on since the dawn of affiliate programs.

It is a way to weed out non-performing affiliates.Especially when the minimum is set at $50.

Agreed, weeds out the people that sign up and sit on their thumbs. And the ones that post on forums without a proper signature created, with links to their best converting site.

Also It keeps accounting costs, including and especially time required, to a minimum.

If an affiliate owes you $100 then they should have earned enough to pay to send you money.
Most of my minimums are $500. Cause I don't want to spend the time with the accounting for less than $500 per payment.

Automated payments I accept at any amount. Especially, while testing new affiliate programs!

Not sure why you would close an account. Sure you can/will tell me reasons, however, I doubt that the effort is legally required, so why waste the time at all closing an account.

Leave them open and send your worst traffic until you meet the minimum affiliate payout requirement, if ever. Once you reach the minimum, stop sending traffic.
That is how I close accounts. No more traffic!

The lesson here "Dont close accounts"!

If I was the program owner guess what I would not waste time with people who can not read and stick to the rules they signed up to. How hard is it to make $50 in sales with a program
Stop looking for reps if they don't care why waste your time and traffic at their program, fuck that.

Me too think of the affiliates making a sale a year wasting support time.

It is all legal if it is in the TOS you agreed to at the time of registration

Granted it might be legal if it is in the terms but it is still wrong to hold on to an affiliates earnings because of the minimum has not been reached.

No it is not wrong. In fact is is the correct way to do business. It is YOUR opinion that it is wrong and only that.

If you agreed to NOT be paid until you reached a certain balance, then the only person doing and real wrong is YOU for complaining about an agreement that YOU failed to meet the requirements of!

You have to read and agree to contracts and stick to it not change your mind whenever it does not suit you.
