I appeciate what you are saying but this is the kind of thing that is only ever going to grow. Once a site is setup with it then its never going to give it up (hence the reason we are all scrabbling round now looking for a replacement)Sandman wrote: ↑June 19th, 2023, 6:49 pmthe problem is you need at least 100-150 paying users for it to be worth doing and in adult there is alot more talkers then payers.
i considered making a trading script or even buying one of the old ones and redoing it but just did not make sense once i ran the numbers.
Plus bear in mind a lot of webmasters here will have multiple sites. I'd be looking for 3 or 4 licenses right off the bat. You could also skew the pricing so, for example a basic license would handle say 50 trades. Larger sites would pay a premium
All monthly subscription software starts off running at a loss. But in the long run this is exactly the kind of business model that could easily be earning you several grand a month ...... and thats pure profit !

What I was going to ask.
Getting rich takes making money, saving a nickel will not make you rich if you never make the buck

I agree! Figure if they are charging $500 a copy, that's $50k for 100 paying users ... BUT, they don't seem to want it. Even if they offer a Free copy and GET 3% of Traffic from each of free users, they can still push traffic from that to something that will make them money. Hell, I'd give them 5% of my traffic if I can use it for free and get support. It really is the best script I know of. They could corner the market with it. But, if they do not provide support then it is basically worthless. I sure would not pay $500 for it now or ever if their support isn't SOLID. Not that I need much support with it, I can read their docs. BUT - their main page needs to allow for user account updates/changes at the least.
With all that said, I have to say I LOVE THIS FUCKING SCRIPT. I would love it more if they would respond to my request of updating my account, but, still I love the damn thing! They have the market cornered if they will get it together.
On a side note. I wonder why they would even show up and say they need php8 testers if they aren't going to provide support? *scratching my head with that one. I mean, why bother, right?

Or maybe they are just still updating with a php8 version and waiting until that is done to make a come back? Who knows, speculation is like blind with this.
No way I would pay a monthly fee for it. May as well buy it for a flat fee rather than pay a monthly subscription. A free version can take 5% of my trade traffic tho.

Not enough people paid $500 for the license to keep them interested in updating the script, not enough people want to pay $20 a month for it, now you know what the state of this industry is.

Unfortunately your (and everybody elses) traffic has very little value to them. Its skimmed and completely un-qualified, which is about the lowest quality you can get
Pretty much ALL software companies nowdays have moved over to a monthly subscription. Its the only way they can make any money. Think of Micosoft, Adobe, Norton etc. They are all a monthly subscription. Those that try to stick with a one off package price quickly go out of business
Overall I would guess that we are paying around $100 - $150 a month for all our software subscriptions

I, for one, am not skimming clicks/traffic. I do not believe in it just as the same way I do not believe in creating a tube site. I only use it to trade/exchange links, which is what I thought it was meant to be used for. I want returning traffic to my site that will click into sponsors and join pages if the visitors are interested in doing so; which is the advertising job Have taken on. I do not want them to be blind shafted into seeing some other site they did not want to see when clicking on a link or gallery thumb. Advertising does not work that way in my minds eye of running a free site. But to each their own.tacnet wrote: ↑June 25th, 2023, 3:12 pmUnfortunately your (and everybody elses) traffic has very little value to them. I pay for only two subscriptions per month, and that is my hosting and internet service. Those that are paying $150 a month for other software subscriptions can either afford it for their own convenience or desperately need it to run their business. There are a lot of things that are still free to use; granted they may serve their own ads for providing a free service.
If I use a free copy of TE and they want to enable a 5% skim on the trade templates I create to use for traffic exchanges to send to a related site sponsor of their own choosing, then so be it, I can accept that.
While thinking of a multi-billion dollar corporation like Microsoft or Adobe, I do not think of TradeExpert as anywhere near that. Buying a licensed version of TradeExpert for $200-$300 is better than paying $20 per month for users that will run a site for 5, 10, 20 years; far more of a realistic offer. It would be better for them to charge a monthly $20 subscription for support, if users need it that much. The script itself is solid along with the docs needed to use it.
If the script is solid (which it is) and the developers are active (which they do not seem to be), word would go around and they would be set for life with sales, support subscription fees, and the 5% of skimmed traffic they would get from their free licensed users. Traffic is gold, it's up to them to direct it to where they can make money from a distributed free licensed version. Which they used to do, but it's on them that they do not seem to being doing it now.
TradeExpert would be better off charging users for support than charging them a monthly subscription fee. Otherwise, any other experienced programmer that could make such a script will, and not charge a monthly subscription fee.

Or maybe they are building up to it. Waiting for their 'fans' of the script to just be so thrilled about the script that they know they can make money? I mean, they know everyone likes it and wants it .. so ..
Clever marketing scheme, maybe? hmm. Who the hell knows.

With all due respect I doubt the guy is that savvy in marketing to even think that one up, he seems a nice guy does reply to me after a while,a good programmer for sure who came out with a great script years ago, but I think sales slowed down and he lost interest in updating it.

Then why with him coming on here and asking for testers for php8 version?TheButcher wrote: ↑June 25th, 2023, 7:35 pmWith all due respect I doubt the guy is that savvy in marketing to even think that one up, he seems a nice guy does reply to me after a while,a good programmer for sure who came out with a great script years ago, but I think sales slowed down and he lost interest in updating it.Zug wrote: ↑June 25th, 2023, 7:27 pmOr maybe they are building up to it. tradeexpert wrote: ↑March 30th, 2023, 5:54 amHello everyone,
I would like to apologize for the slow support we've been providing recently. It's true that trade scripts, in general, have been experiencing a decline over the past few years. This is partly due to the rise of tube sites with full-length videos and search engines favoring such websites. To sustain our business, we've had to take on additional projects.
One of the main challenges in supporting a project like TE3 is the sheer volume of support requests we receive daily. Often, users don't consult the documentation before asking for assistance, expecting free support. The time required to resolve issues varies significantly, sometimes taking just 10 minutes, while other times requiring several hours.
Furthermore, many issues are server-related, necessitating extensive communication with server administrators to find a solution. We've been working on a new version of TE3, ensuring compatibility with PHP 8.1. However, the features remain largely unchanged from the previous version.
When it comes to adding new features, we want to prioritize those that benefit the majority of our users. We understand that some users request unique features, but catering to specific use cases can add complexity to an already complex system, potentially hindering the experience for other users.
We're open to considering new features based on your collective feedback. If there's a general consensus on the most desired additions, we'll be happy to explore their implementation. Once again, we apologize for the recent support delays and appreciate your understanding.
Regarding PHP 8.1 version, those who need it already, please contact us on ICQ: 374821862
best regards,
Jim
