I saw this on TikTok last night and had to Google it, I was really amazed that Saudi Arabia has the largest airport in the world. The shit I learn on TikTok is amazing.
"At 299.61 square miles (776 square kilometers), King Fahd International Airport is the largest airport in the world by total area. For comparison, King Fahd Airport is approximately the same size as New York City, which itself contains two major airports within its city limits.
Even though its the world's biggest airport, it's not the busiest airport in Saudi Arabia (that would be King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the main entry point for devout Muslims making the Hajj to Mecca and Medina)."

Didn't know that but not really surprised.
Like a lot of middle eastern countries, Saudi is ploughing huge sums of money into tourism right now. They know the demand for oil will drop off over the next decade or so and they are preparing for it

I had no idea saw a clip on TikTok about the largest airports in the world. All these countries that primarily depend on their oil sales have to think about diversifying their economies. It would help if they actually became more democratic in the process.
