how much is the cost to get third party billing on an adult site
I have this idea and want to start my own membership site, so I am making a plan of things to do and costs, what I need to find out is how much it takes to get a third party billing account to accept Visa and mastercard.
Thank you for reading.

If your just starting, you can easily hook up with billers like ccbill.com or epoch.com. They will charge you around 15 - 17%
There is a one off fee for Visa which is currently $500 (but maybe going up like brassmonkey said. Ive not heard this but it wouldn't surprise me). Im not sure how they would bill this for a new site. For us they just knock off $100 a month for 5 months each year
Once you get bigger you can get your own merchant account and then you get rates around 5 - 6%

High-risk accounts are:
Mastercard 500
Visa 950 (used to be 500)
These are to be paid annually and are in USD. Plus as tacnet described... There will probably be a 10-15% per transaction.
You may have to share 50% of the transaction with an affiliate.
Also, depending on you location, you'll probably also have to pay 10-50% of your income depending on how you setup your taxes.

Mastercard will raise their price to match Visa any time, it is just a question of time.

Third party billing companies take about 20% if you add in the rolling reserves they hold for month. They are a rip off.

Visa is the big white elephant in the room, when it moves the smaller creatures take notice.

The best option is to get your own merchant account but it is beyond the reach for most small site operators so they end up getting to pay horrendous rates and costs to 3rd party billers. It is always the same the more money you have the more choices you have to make money. This is life in the real world.

There are sponsors I know who have resorted to crypto only for membership fees because they can not cough up the annual Visa fee.

Its a percentage of gross sales. Typically its around 5.5% - 6% plus something like 30 cents per transaction from memory. Thats compared with 15% - 17% from the likes of ccbill.
These guys setup our merchant account https://www.emerchantpay.com/. We've been with them for around 18 years and they seem pretty reliable.
