A mom and dad waterboarded their 12 year-old daughter as punishment after seeing the torture technique used in a movie.
Malisa and Dion Stevens inflicted the horrendous ordeal on their girl by taping to her a chair with duct tape and tying her hands behind her back.
They then shoved rags in the youngster’s mouth tilted the chair back and poured water into her mouth. The punishment simulates drowning and is officially classified as a torture method.
News that the CIA had used it on terrorist prisoners in Guantanamo bay previously sparked outrage. The couple pictured in court Monday, where it was revealed they are set to be reunited with the daughter they abused after reaching a plea deal (KDTA2) The horrendous incident happened last April in the basement of the Stevens’ home in Aliquippa, near Pittsburgh, Pa.
Afterwards, the couple were arrested when their daughter told a neighbor what happened. They admitted to police they devised the unusual punishment after seeing it in a movie. They admitted torturing the girl last October – but are now set to reach a plea deal that could see them dodge jail and be reunited with their daughter.
According to CBS, the couple’s attorney Lee Rothman, the deal is ‘geared towards family unification.’ They inflicted the horrendous punishment on their girl at their home in Aliquippia, Penn. last April (KDTA2) Fellow defence attorney Brandon Eberle added: ‘My client Mr. Dion Stevens’ goal was to reunify with his daughter and I believe that his daughter has expressed the same token here today. ‘And after discussing it with the DA, I think we are on the next step to reach that goal.’ Under the terms of the mooted deal, the couple will have supervised access to their girl. They will also be on probation for five to seven years.
