watch out for phishing emails from fake registrars

#1

Post by chilli.domains » September 21st, 2018, 9:48 am

I sold a domain to a client last week and he emailed me last night how comes I told him the domain had 8 months to go since last renewal and he received an email that it was expired. I said DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS in that email, bring your mouse over it see what url it has there. He realized it was a phishing email. I get those type of emails regularly, and I tell my clients to not renew any domain off a link in an email. Log into your registrar account do it form there.

Justa small heads up.

If they aren't a few the little scum will think twice about pulling this shit, but that does not happen too often.

Who the fuck still clicks on links in unsolicited emails? You would think that a person that buys a domain and I'm assuming wants to run a website would have more sense than that. Should be webby101

Not a 1 chance in a million I ever click open a link in an email until I am certain it is a real and safe email link.

Once you get fucked up you soon learn. I once fell for one of these scams 12 years ago, my whole pc was infected with trojans, I had to reformat the thing and lost all my saved data.

Make the penalty and jail time so high that it discourages others to do this

Most of them are not here, they are in other countries, how would we get them here to bring about a case against them.
