A lot of people will not take the coronavirus vaccine when it is available.
"More than 1 in 3 Americans surveyed in a NPR-PBS NewsHour-Marist poll released Friday say they will not get a coronavirus vaccine once it is available.
Thirty-five percent of respondents said they would not take the vaccine, 60 percent said they would and 5 percent said they were unsure.
Those with college degrees are 19 points more likely to take a vaccine than those without, 72 percent to 53 percent. Democrats were also more likely to be willing to take the vaccine than Republicans, 71 percent to 48 percent.
The poll noted that in 2009 only 51 percent said they would take a vaccine for H1N1, though that disease was less deadly and had a narrower impact on daily life.
Dozens of vaccines around the world are in the process of being developed, with a handful of them in the final phases of trials. The timeline is crunched significantly compared to the production of other vaccines, and even then, one is not expected to be available until early 2021."

It seems to me the powers to be have decided on letting 'herd immunity' happen and not worry over the number of people who may die until that day comes.

Not by choice but some leaders are already talking of making it mandatory. The Australian PM said 4 days ago it should be mandatory.
"Hong Kong (CNN)With one comment, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison managed to turn a positive coronavirus story into a public relations disaster, and highlighted the potential next nightmare of the pandemic: a fight over vaccines.
Speaking about a plan to provide free coronavirus immunization to all Australians as soon as that is possible, Morrison said Wednesday that he would "expect it to be as mandatory as you could possibly make it," with some exemptions on medical grounds.
His health minister, Karen Andrews, reiterated that line later, saying the government was "looking at it being a mandatory vaccine." But by Wednesday evening, Morrison was already backtracking, telling radio station 2GB that "it is not going to be compulsory to have the vaccine ... there are no compulsory vaccines in Australia."
"No one is going to force anybody to do anything as a compulsory measure, but we certainly will encourage people to take this up," Morrison said. "Everybody needs to understand what we are trying to achieve here.""

The coronavirus has been good for handymen and construction material sales. 3 of my friends are redoing their kitchens, patios and one is even having an out door barbecue/kitchen build by his pond. People are spending more time at home and remodelling them instead of going on vacation. It's good for home prices and the economy.

The day they find a vaccine that is safe and effective it will be the day we can start getting our lives back to what we had.

Why the shift in testing recommendation, so if you think you have been near a CV positive person and have no symptoms yourself you are not required to get tested?

So they found a more dangerous mutated coronavirus in Indonesia.
"JAKARTA (Reuters) - A more infectious mutation of the new coronavirus has been found in Indonesia, the Jakarta-based Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology said on Sunday, as the Southeast Asian country's caseload surges.
Indonesia reported 2,858 new infections on Sunday, data by the health ministry showed, below the previous day's record 3,308 but above the past month's daily average. Its total number of cases was 172,053, with 7,343 COVID-19 fatalities.
The "infectious but milder" D614G mutation of the virus has been found in genome sequencing data from samples collected by the institute, deputy director Herawati Sudoyo told Reuters, adding that more study is required to determine whether that was behind the recent rise in cases.
The strain, which the World Health Organization said was identified in February and has been circulating in Europe and the Americas, has also been found in neighbouring Singapore and Malaysia.
Syahrizal Syarif, an epidemiologist with the University of Indonesia, warned Indonesians must remain vigilant, as his modelling suggests the country may see its caseload rise to 500,000 by the end of the year.
"The situation is serious .... Local transmission currently is out of control," Syarif said, adding that the number of infections found daily could have been much higher if laboratories were able to process more specimens in a day.
The capital Jakarta on Sunday saw a record daily increase of more than 1,000 cases, which the city government linked to a higher mobility rate during a mid-August independence celebration.
"There needs to be an awareness and a collective effort, be it from the government or the people, in addressing the rising number of cases," Dwi Oktavia, an official at the Jakarta health agency, said in a statement, urging people to stay at home and wear a face mask when they must go out...."

Why the virus is not ending is the rate of increase in various cities and countries, as one place gets less cases new hot spots pop up, this is why a 14 day quarantine on travellers is vital.
