You don't see my crying, people want gas cars, give them the option to buy gas, diesel, hybrid or Ev not mandate the damn EV's down everyone's throat by 2035.
If we left it up to the users then everybody would just carry on driving gas cars. They are cheaper, less hassle, you don't need chargers...... but the planet would just keep getting hotter and hotter and by 2030 we would have past the tipping point. After that, there is no going back. We would be in a run away greenhouse effect

Like I just said in the other thread, what we do this decade will define humanity for hundreds of years to come
I do not disagree with anything you said, we should move towards non-carbon fuels but my problem is when the government forces you to buy an ev by 2035. There simply is not the range, charging infrastructure or speed of charging out there for everyone to switch. To make matters worse since EV's are more expensive than gas engine cars they go tack on a 100% tariff some as high as 100% to Chinese EV''s making it even more expensive for the average person to afford. You want to mandate every new car is electric by 2035 at least make it affordable not double the damn price.

80% plus of all EV batteries in the world are made in China, you are never going to change that staggering dominance in battery manufacturing, China produces something like 60-65% of all the EV cars in the world and is the largest market for EV sales. If the plan is to go EV try make it cost effective for all EV car sales not double the price of the Chinese ones.

Yep I have to agree with you there. We need to make EVs more affordable and we need to build up the charging infrastructure and battery manufacturing FAST. China is well ahead of the rest of the world in battery manufacturing but USA, Canada, Europe and India are all ramping up production with massive subsidies. Right now, the battery market is over supplied which means the price of batteries is dropping rapidly. Also worth bearing in mind that China doesn't have control of the global supply of lithium. 52% of the world's lithium comes from Australia (with another 25% from Chile). China only accounts for about 13% which could put them in a precarious position once other countries ramp up their production.

The one thing we CANT do is ignore the science and just go back to burning more fossil fuels which is what Trump is advocating. I guess its all going to come down to what happens on Tuesday

The earth had survived 4.6 billion years and nothing we do will do in the next 20 years is going to make it go away

The population is growing exponentially and we are burning oil and gas like never in the history of this planet dude.

Exactly. The last time the earth suffered a major climate change like the one scientists are warning us about was around 12,000 years ago (The Younger Dryas event) and it took over 1,000 years for the climate to stabilize, and that was without humans pumping out greenhouse gasses like we are right now.
