The next tool after the Site Auditor: Bot Watch (beta, looking for testers)
Several of you have used the Site Auditor and asked what's next. This is it.
I was fighting bots off my own server. The research was slow: reading logs, working out who was real, who was only costing me bandwidth, and what to do about each. So I built a tool to speed that up, and to turn the findings into a defense plan, from basic to advanced.
**What it does**
You drop in your website's access log and get a plain-words report:
- who is really visiting: search engines, helpful tools, and bots that only cost you server time
- what to do about each: allow, slow down, or block, with the reason
- early warnings: scanners probing for weak spots, fake "Google" visitors, unusual traffic
- for admins: search-engine claims checked by DNS, hosting-network checks, and rules you can review before using
**How it works**
1. Get your raw access log from your host.
2. Drop it into the page and enter your site address.
3. Read the report. It takes a minute or two.
**Your log stays with you.** It is read and analyzed in your browser. It is not uploaded. Don't take my word for it: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while it runs, and see what is sent. The page also keeps anonymous counts (opened, report made, downloaded) and nothing else.
**What it won't do**
It never changes anything on your site or server. It only suggests, and it can be wrong, so test any rule first. It reads Apache and nginx combined logs, the last 60 MB.
**Beta note:** the sections and downloads marked PRO are free while we're in beta. They would normally be part of a Pro membership.
**What I'd like from you, in this thread**
- Did the report make sense to you?
- Anything wrong, surprising, or a false positive?
- Did your log format fail? Post one line with the visitor address blanked out.
- Which parts would you actually use?

there are now two tools
this one
https://exposemyself.com/free-ai-seo-site-audit/
anyone can use now.
This one PM me and I will give you the password, it is free, just don't want people hammering my server.
https://exposemyself.com/botwatchtool/ Making lots of improvements on it.
The botwatchtool has already helped me block 13% of bad traffic, bots, scanners and that is on basic mode.
extreme wanted to block almost 50% of the traffic, so testing that still.
standard blocks over 35% of the traffic, testing it live now and maybe it has a few false positives.
Working on building in something to allow humans that fall into the trap to get out, while still blocking those bots and scanners.
These are server side blocks and bans, not wordpress. greatly increase the efficiency of my server when I implemented this server wide.
The current tool is provides a great report and suggestions on what you can do.
@Bikker is also available for those of you that need a bit more assistance.
