gotonudecom - maybe if you spent less time insulting me (and everybody else) who dont agree with you on this forum and more time concentrating on your own sites, you would see why fewer people are clicking on your internal links (and therefore giving you a higher bounce rate)
ITS BECAUSE ALL YOUR INTERNAL LINKS ARE BLOCKED BY THE NORTON ANTI-VIRUS AS BEING MALICIOUS !!!!
And no i didnt need to see your stats or do any research or analysis to work that out, i simply clicked a link.
There is another MAJOR issue that is 100% having a MASSIVE impact on your bounce rate (especially mobile users) but i'll be damned if im going to give you any help. After all, according to you Im stupid, ignorant, soft in the head but somehow I still have a site ranked 2.5 times the size of yours !!!

Only time that I start looking at the bounce rate is when my sales numbers go down for a day or so.

The way I see it is that we are operating in what is probably the most competitive industry on the planet. These days if you want to make serious money as an adult webmaster then you have to go the extra mile and things like bounce rate, page speed index, layout shift, first contentful paint etc ALL matter
None of them are used by google directly in your page ranking but they are all part of what google calls "Web Vitals" designed to give the best user experience. As google points out, if youve got a site that gives poor user experience then users are unlikely to click on your link again and that WILL affect your page ranking
I see this all the time in our affiliates. The big guys all work on this stuff. You've only got to look at their code to see it
The guys that dont bother with it generally dont make any money
As useful tool is https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

Always read up and do not take the last person's advice as being the right one, make up your mind once you read up multiple sources on anything. My advice to every one.

Bear in mind that if you have a single page with few or no internal links (eg a blog) then you would expect to have a higher bounce rate. Also mobile users tend to bounce more than desktop users
A good place to start is https://www.similarweb.com/corp/blog/research/market-research/bounce-rate/
But here's a few tips Ive picked up over the years if its any help.
Hope that helps
A good place to start is https://www.similarweb.com/corp/blog/research/market-research/bounce-rate/
But here's a few tips Ive picked up over the years if its any help.
- Content - Obvious one really. As any adult webmaster will tell you, our users dont tend to read much so you really need to grab their attention with images. Dont fill your 'above the fold' section with text or links. Make sure your content is relevant
- Speed Test - Test your page load speed with Google Page Insights and follow the suggestions its gives.
- Lazy Load Images - Anything above the fold you should load immediately. Anything else can be lazyloaded using something like https://github.com/aFarkas/lazysizes
- Specify image dimensions - Make sure each image has a set width and height (you can override this with CSS to make the images responsive). This will help reduce your Cumilative Layout Shift. See https://web.dev/cls/
- Minimise Render Blocking CSS - Dont load ALL your css in the <head> tag. Instead only load the CSS critical for that page. Use media queries to match it to the users device
See https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/performance/critical-rendering-path/render-blocking-css. The rest of your CSS can be loaded asynchronously see https://web.dev/defer-non-critical-css/
- Minimise Render Blocking Javascript - Dont load all your javascript libraries in the <head> tag if they are not needed to display that page. Instead move them to the bottom of your page before the </body> tag and defer loading like this <script defer src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.3/jquery.min.js"></script>
- Minify your CSS / Javascript - Run your CSS and Javascript code through a minifier like this https://www.minifier.org/
Hope that helps

I think lazy load was part of a wordpress update a couple versions back. Don't quote me on that, but I recall reading something to that effect some time ago.

One thing to watch out for with lazyloading images is to make sure you set the dimensions of the image (either in the img tag or via css).
If you dont, the browser cant layout the dom properly until the images are loaded and that means things start jumping about as the user scrolls down (Cumilative Layout Shift)
I made this mistake until google page insights pointed it out to me
