What this war has done is wake up middle east countries to the fact that if they had a nuke then no one will attack them, so this might be counter productive to preventing nuclear proliferation.

Totally agree and it's not just the middle east, several NATO countries are now looking to acquire nukes including Germany and Poland as it seems ever more clear that NATO can not rely on the US nuclear arsenal for protection anymore. For the same reason, France and the UK (the other two nuclear powers in NATO) are building up their stockpiles. The whole idea of NATO was that we only needed a few countries with nukes to make it a viable defense.

Ukraine is another country seeking nukes after they gave up the world's third biggest nuclear arsenal in 1994 in exchange for security assurances from the U.S. and Russia. Fat lot of good they turned out to be

Some of Trump's messaging recently (although it seems to change day by day) suggests that he is trying to find a way out. He recently said that they have "achieved regime change" in Iran which was one of the many stated goals (along with unconditional surrender etc). I doubt the Iranian people, who Trump encouraged to rise up and take over their government, would see it that way and neither would the rest of the world.

He also posted this on Truth Social “All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil,”

Having created this mess, I wonder if Trump is about to declare victory based on the "regime change" he is claiming and then just leave the Straits of Hormuz for everybody else to sort out ???

Excuse me but what regime change sure Israel has assassinated and killed a lot of the top leadership but their replacements took over and are running the same if not more hostile policies. You go about killing people usually more hardline replacements take their roles.

Oh and the Straits of Hormuz were never in question ships were travelling through just fine. Now there is a blockade and Iran is letting ships from friendly countries go though and charged other huge tolls. Never mind they are not letting any ship from a non-friendly country pass.

Bottom line trump is realizing that he got played by Netanyahu who for the past 40 years has been salivating to get the US to attack Iran. For whatever reason Trump took the bait and now wants to come up with any excuse to claim success and extricate himself from his illegal war of choice. had he gone to Congress and got authorization for this war it would be another kettle of fish.

No it won't go nuclear. Like I mentioned before, all you would do is kill millions of Iranians and render fast areas of Iran uninhabitable for centuries to come (ie Chernobyl). On top of that, you could have radioactive fall out falling all across the straits of Hormuz

But talking of nuclear weapons, Trump says he is trying to stop Iran from having a nuclear weapon right ?. OK but there is one country in the world who has nukes but denies it and therefore is not signed up to any of the nuclear treaties or subject to any kind of inspections etc. That country is Israel

I'd love to hear him somehow justify this was a win LOL. The regime is still in place, the IRGC is still armed to the teeth, the nuclear material is still underground, the straits are still closed, oil prices have sky rocketed and the world is on the brink of a global recession !!!! Even in Trumps universe, that's gotta be bad

OR he could be announcing he's escalating. After all, he's sent 50,000 troops down there with more on the way. But even if he takes Kharg Island, that still wont open the straits of Hormuz and will turn the entire gulf region into a war zone. That would send oil prices through the roof not to mention all the American casualties
