My father blew the top of his head off with a rifle two weeks before Xmas in 2010 at the age of 87. He had complications during minor surgery that left him dependent on others for care. It's fucked up that he needed to go to that extend to end his life.

I think there should be safeguards to prevent abuse, but I also think that you should be able to end your life in as pleasant a way as possible.
