Success for me is having a bank balance where the next sponsor payment, or one a year from today makes no change in my living standard, and I accomplished that 2 years ago. I can live at my current spending level for 16-18months even if I never get paid again. Not that it is my dream to burn through my savings but how I feel.

I have read reports online that a lot of people could not handle a $1000 emergency bill.

No titanic / iceberg jokes?

A worker on the Titanic comes to the captain.
Worker: Sir we have hit an iceberg.

Captain: So?

Worker: I don't think you understand. Just let that sink in.

Every one defines success in their own way. For some it is money, some a nice wife, others nice kids, others health....
