You need to keep this shit in check. Things i've heard that may help are exercise, diet, a routine. Take physical care of yourself. Focus on the positive. Write down things that are good in your life, things you're greatful for. Seek out positive support groups or forums on and offline. Turn off the news. That shit that's going on in US can get anyone depressed. If all else fails go see your doctor. Depression is no joke, you need to nip it in the butt.

Good morning razor, there is good advice shared here, recognizing you or anyone has depression is half the battle to over coming the disease. I don;t mean to put you down, but depression is a disease and needs to be treated as such. You are wining the battle by knowing you might have depression, now go get checked out by a doctor.

All the best my friend.

If you get it treated you can beat it. Getting medical help is key. And doing the things they tell you and taking the pills if they give you any is important.

No.... Try to not have to take pills.. You'll feel like shit all the time and just want to sleep.
If anyone really has it and wants help, PM me.

Try not to take pills is fine but if he needs them then it is a must.

True, but all too often they're prescribed right of the bat as an easy quick fix. Take 2 call me in the morning. Problems? Okay, here's another one to deal with that. And there it goes. Adjusting the chemistry to cope with life, glossing things over. It's better to learn the warning signs and coping skills necessary to deal with depression instead of living in a fog. If there's an imbalance that needs to be addressed with drugs, fine, take them. But I don't think they should come into play until the underlying cause and other behavioral remedies have been explored.

That's my 2 cents...

So many people die from suicide, if they got help they would still be here.

I would agree with this comment by Colmike7. Depression is hard but with the right support you can get better, pills will make you dull and groggy for the most part unless doses are low, but regardless pills take a toll on the body and if you can help it, don't take them. I speak from experience and my girlfriend has also been through sever depression anxiety and panic attack disorders and she made it through without a single pill, she was the kind of person that would not be able to leave the house because she would get tachicardia and start shaking and crying when she tried. It has been 3 years now since she started to really push herself in order to overcome and she now rides my motorcycle with me ( something that can be nerve racking for anyone) she enjoys the outdoors the woods camping and shopping. Things she thought she wouldn't be able to do. All sure slowly, but definitely surely and without a single pill just the right support.
