Unvaccinated people 11 times more likely to die of Covid-19 than vaccinated, is this reason enough to go get vaccinated or what.

You would think so but I still know people who are point blank refusing the jab.

I think its got to the point where there is nothing more you can say to these people that will pursuade them. Its not vaccine hesitancy anymore its just pig ignorance

I guess the only option now is to make life more and more difficult for those who refuse
I agree

Not good news Indian study found antibodies went down quite a lot after 4 months of the vaccination

"By Jatindra Dash and Krishna N. Das

BHUBANESWAR, India (Reuters) - A study https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-888762/v1 of 614 fully vaccinated health workers in India found a "significant" drop in their COVID-fighting antibodies within four months of the first shot.

The findings could help the Indian government decide whether to provide booster doses as some Western countries reuters.com/world/uk/uk-pm-johnson-set-out-covid-19-booster-strategy-under-winter-plan-2021-09-13 have done.

Waning antibodies do not necessarily mean that immunised people lose their ability to counter the disease, as the body's memory cells may still kick in to offer substantial protection, said the director of a state-run institute that did the study.

"After six months, we should be able to tell you more clearly whether and when a booster would be needed," Sanghamitra Pati of the Regional Medical Research Centre, based in the eastern city of Bhubaneswar, told Reuters on Tuesday."

So Ive had a bit of a scare with this over the last few days

Came down with a REALLY bad flu on Sunday. Temperature was sky high but I still could taste and smell so i figured it was just a bad flu. Yesterday I went and had a test and it came back this morning as POSITIVE !!

Thankfully Ive had both my jabs and im feeling a little bit better today but I can honestly say Ive never felt that bad before in my life

Believe me you do NOT want to catch this without having any protection.

Not good to read, hopefully it'll pass as a mild one. Which vaccine did you get, I had both shots of the Pfizer one. I am pretty confident that fully vaccinated people stand a better chance of not getting so sick as unvaccinated folks when they get covid-19 . I say when not if because my thinking after all the lock downs, masks, social distancing, vaccinations that we have been though over the past 18 months tells me we are not going to eradicate the virus. It is going to be around for years if not longer and we have to get used to it and live with it.

Point in case Israel with the highest percentage of fully vaccinated people and it is still facing another wave. Throw in the new variants that keep mutating and the decline in efficacy of the vaccine over time, this thing is going to be with us and everyone will come in contact with it one day.

Since day one I have been wearing latex gloves anytime I go to the store and never touch a door handle or shopping cart, some stare at me but I honestly do not care. Here some of the larger stores supposedly clean the handle of shopping carts, yeh right some teenager swipes the same dirty cloth on hundreds of cart handles an hour. I stay as far away form people in stores as I can, and everytime I come home I clean my keys, IPhone, wallet with 7% alcohol and every door handle I touch at home, I honestly go through a 450ML 70% bottle of alcohol every 3 days. Any time someone comes home I clean the door handles.

My kids get annoyed because I tell them wash your hands every time they come home, they go dad we know! I know they know but they often "conveniently" forget and start touching their laptops, Ipads, open the fridge, touch things around the house. No wash before touching anything is what I keep repeating like an old parrot.

Tacnet did you hear Boris yesterday, he was quite logical and open about his thoughts on covid-19 in Britain.

All the best and stay well my friend

Peace

I had the AstroZenica vaccine. Thats what threw me, I thought Im fully vaccinated so if I get it then its only going to be mild but it wasnt, it absolutely floored me. If I hadnt had my jabs then i would be petrified right now but feeling a bit better today

Yeah I caught some of what Boris was saying. Who the hell is this big time rapper that said the vaccine makes you impotent ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7Jww3qp4Io

She just sounds like shes on another planet

Thanks calista. Yes i gotta self isolate until 21st now

Nicki Minaj what a joke giving an opinion on vaccines, exactly why I can not stand rappers they look, dress, act like crap. I have yet to see a rapper who impresses me, they spew out garbage in words and song. If you can call the noise coming out their mouth a song. Ignore what she says that's what I do.

All this time I thought the Pfizer vaccine was the best, a study shows Moderna's jab might be better

"Zoom in: In a study released last week, the CDC found that Moderna was significantly more effective against hospitalizations and emergency department or urgent care encounters than the Pfizer or J&J vaccines."

For tacnet do you have any idea where you might have gotten the virus, were you at any indoor get togethers or bars in the past 2 weeks.

Yes I do. I was out for a drink with a friend of mine back on Sept 3rd which is when Im sure I picked it up

Here in the UK we got around 89% having had their first jab and all restrictions have been lifted so nobody is wearing masks or social distancing or anything.

My own stupid fault I know but thankfully i feel a hell of a lot better just a few days later so seems like the vaccine works

Id be absolutely panicking right now if i hadnt had the jab

Sorry to hear abut it tacnet, we have,in Quebec of the 12 year and over we are at 88.9% one dose and 82.3% fully vaccinated and daily infections, hospital and ICU numbers are higher than they were in May 2021.
We even have the Covid-19 passport for the past fortnight for most non-essential places. Why the numbers are going up is amazing.Plus a mask is mandatory in all public settings.

I suppose when you think about it, if a vaccination rate of around 89% is not enough for it to be safe to go back out again, then what would be enough ??? Even if you waited another 6 months then you might only get another 2-3% on that figure which wouldnt make much difference to your overall risk

Its great that the vaccines stop you getting seriously ill but I guess what we really need is a vaccine that stops you catching and spreading it in the first place.

Just my 2 cents

You make a good point tacnet, it's amazing so many vaccines got developed so fast and they might not be fool proof in preventing us from getting infected but at least as you said they do reduce the severity of the disease and prevent a large number of hospitalizations and deaths.

Covid-19 is here to stay , this is my sense of things. New variants will keep coming out and booster shots are going to become annual events.
