Europe is taking a stand against redrawing Ukraine's borders a head of the Trump - Putin meeting.
"European leaders have warned against Ukrainian borders being redrawn by force – three days before Russia's Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are due to hold a summit on Ukraine in Alaska.
In a statement, European leaders said "the people of Ukraine must have the freedom to decide their future".
It added the principles of "territorial integrity" must be respected and "international borders must not be changed by force".
The statement was signed by 26 of 27 leaders. Missing from the signatories was Hungary's leader Viktor Orban, who has maintained friendly relations with Russia and has repeatedly tried to block European Union support for Ukraine."

We had this opportunity in late 2022 with big counter-offense, but later they fired Zalyshnyi and international partners ceased the aid. And we lost too much men because of this. I don't know reasons for both decisions but it was the turning point.
russia has no chance to capture any big city. But we also can't move forward without unprecedented loses. So it's stalemate.
Now keeping the independent state is already a win.

It is a history making day today in Alaska with the two presidents sitting down later on to see if they can make peace.

This seems to me like 1938 all over again. Quick history lesson for all you youngens LOL.
By 1938, Hitler had already invaded Austria and the Rhineland and the European powers of the time (Britain and France) protested and issued sanctions but did little else. Then in May 1938, Hitler was demanding parts of Czechoslovakia that he said were ethnically German and so, to prevent war, Britain and France met with Hitler and agreed that he could have the border areas of Czechoslovakia (called the Sudetenland) so long as he promised he would not come back for more. Czechoslovakia was NOT invited to the meeting and simply forced to sign the deal afterwards.
Of course Hitler didn't keep his word. In October 1938 he took the rest of Czechoslovakia, followed by an invasion of Poland the following year which sparked the second World War
Here we are, 80 years later and Putin invades Crimea in 2014. The world powers protest and issue sanctions but do little else. Now Putin is demanding parts of eastern Ukraine that he says are ethnically Russian. Trump is meeting with Putin and will likely give him the land he wants so long as he promises not to come back for more. Ukraine has NOT been invited and will probably be forced to sign the deal afterwards
Of course, Putin will NOT keep his word and will undoubtedly come back for the rest of Ukraine. Europe will resist and where we go from there is anybodies guess but this sure sounds like history repeating itself to me

Presidents Trump and Putin looked very happy, they carved up Ukraine and did some other business.

No deal made and no sanctions implemented. In other words, Putin played Trump like a fiddle, Trump fell for it hook line and sinker and the war drags on.
This is exactly what Putin wanted and exactly what the European leaders were afraid of.

For all his talk of being a deal maker, Trump has a major weakness when it comes to negotiating and every world leader, MAGA republican and even big tech billionaires have worked it out. All you have to do is play to his ego ! Trump makes all these big threats but if you make him feel important, he will back down
That's why you see people like the Apple CEO presenting Trump with a 24 caret gold plaque the other day. Or Keir Starmer turning up with a letter from the King. Or watching one of his cabinet meetings and they are all grovelling to him like he's a god.
You don't get this kind of behavior with any other president or politician because they would see through it but Trump falls for it every time

Honestly, it was pretty pathetic
US soldiers are rolling up red carpet for a war criminal
Trump applauds him
Biden with his dementia was much more sane

That was not over done, it is how you handle a state visit by another president. By the way they have met before, they know each other and were meeting up to solve a major fuck up that can potentially put us in direct conflict with Russia a nuclear power. Both men handled it professionally smiles and polite words in public. Who knows what they said to each other when the cameras were not on them. It's called diplomacy and leadership, I give them both a 10 for yesterday.XXXtrailers wrote: ↑August 16th, 2025, 1:41 amHonestly, it was pretty pathetic

Great meeting, Putin explained the root causes of the problem, Trump seems to have understood it, knows Putin is not backing down and will either get it resolved diplomatically or on the battle field. Trump called his nato buddies and told Zelensky get your ass over here Monday, I'll tell you what is going to happen. And the next meeting will be in Moscow, Zelensky will sign a full capitulation and he''ll leave Ukraine. My bet he'll go to London in disgrace.
The war was never going to end any other way but thanks to Zelensky being manipulated by his western masters a lot of innocent people died and Ukraine lost territory, but hey the sooner it is over the less losses for Ukraine.
Putin won, Zelensky lost and Trump earned his Nobel peace prize.

I tell you what
Ukraine won’t accept any territories loses de-jure
Ukraine won’t accept any more territories loses de-facto
Anybody who will try to do that is committing political suicide
We could negotiate on other things

I know it's hard to accept if I was Ukrainian it would be as hard but it won't be de facto but rather de jure. In every war the winner dictates the terms of the end, and this war is over. I feel very bad for the Ukrainian people and nation but they lost and the only person I hold responsible is Zelensky for going along with the powers who fooled him to play out their plan.He is done he will leave Ukraine any day and go into self imposed exile I have no doubt. If he gets told by his masters to not accept this final chance to end the war I see Russia going all the way up to the Dnirpro and taking the rest of the Black sea coastline including Odessa. I still think that is the Russian plan everything east of the Dnipro and the coast line to include Odessa.XXXtrailers wrote: ↑August 16th, 2025, 11:48 amI tell you what
