Is it time the French language became gender neutral
French always got me because of the nouns with le (or un) are masculine & nouns with la (or une) are feminine. Harder to learn than English for sure, so I was talking with a friend over lunch today and said. France has become much more LGBTQ friendly than many countries and woke. After watching the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic games, is it time they did away with the masculine and feminine pronouns to embrace all genders.
You can tell I'm not very busy today and having a good time discussing things with a friend that probably no one will ever care about, but seriously can they do away with the le and la so it becomes easier for the rest of us non-francophone people who would like to speak the language.

Im no language expert. The only bit of German I can remember from school is "Lumpi ist mein hund"......which means "my dog is called Lumpi". Gotta be honest, thats not been a whole hell of a lot of use in my adult life, especially as I dont even have a dog
But am I right in thinking that its not just French that has male and female pronouns ?? I thought other languages were the same but I could be wrong

I have tried frogs legs they have hardly any meat on them and once you stop thinking what it is you are eating they taste pretty good, they came with some sauce I quite liked them.

Glad I was born French
It's such a hard language to learn. Lots of French people make mistakes when they speak or write.

But it is a beautiful language especially when you listen to Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour which I do all the time.Mrpornlive wrote: ↑August 26th, 2024, 7:27 pmGlad I was born FrenchIt's such a hard language to learn. Lots of French people make mistakes when they speak or write.
