Story has been making rounds that Ukrainians were outraged when Russia negotiators said that Ukrainian soldiers must leave the four new Russian regions as part of ceasefire, to which the Moscow delegation replied "Next time it will be five."
Now, our reporter in Istanbul got to ask the Russian side how it really went down:
"We didn't say five. We said eight.""

I was pretty sceptical but putin dramatically changed his tone after the call. Let's see.

Sounds to me like nothing happened during this call. Putin didn't commit to a time line, the bombs are still falling and there is still no ceasefire in place
Trump says Russia and Ukraine will "immediately" begin negotiating for peace. Well they were doing that last week in Turkey when neither Putin nor Trump showed up
Im beginning to wonder if Trump isn't deliberately stalling until him and Putin can meet face to face. Then Putin can announce a temporary cease fire and Trump can claim it as a big win

I was thinking the same.
Again I was going to say that myself
I think Trump knows Putin is not going to back down and accept anything but the points he set out at the start of this conflict, so why waste time and money, let's make deals. Russia is a big economy, they have oil, gas and natural resources such as rare earth metals. Let them carry on taking over more territory and when the Ukrainian military collapses, we go in with Russia mine the rare earths in Ukraine.
Today's read outs by both sides really did not say anything substantially new or bring about a cease fire. It is obvious to me Russia will not agree to a 30 day ceasefire until a peace agreement has been reached. Zelensky, UK, Europe and the US keep asking for a cease fire, it ain't going to happen without a peace agreement, so instead of beating that dead horse let them push for a peace deal.
My 2 cents

If Trump does not get action he will sanction them, he has already hinted that.

He's too smart to do that. First of all he ran on ending this war, second he keeps repeating during and after the campaign that if he had been president this war would never have started.Third he knows sanctions have hurt the US and Europe way more than Russia. The Russian economy is booming because of the sanctions. Fourth if he puts sanctions, sends aid, money or asks Congress to authorize more arms then he will inherit this war. All along he has said it is Biden's war. Fifth Trump is not a war hawk he likes peace and has said this over and over again.Sixth point he wants to focus on making America great again and realizes Ukraine is not important to America, if anything he's dumping it on the European war mongers. Seventh and final point he wants to concentrate on China which he see's as the bigger threat.

Not looking good for Zelensky this Medvedev is a former prime minister and president of Russia and not one to mess around he's a serious politician and he means what he says

"Russia's former president, Dmitry Medvedev, has proposed a gigantic "buffer zone" in Ukraine that would put Russian towns and settlements out of range of Western weapons.
"If military aid to the Banderite regime continues, the buffer zone could look like this," Medvedev, who is deputy chairperson of Russia's security council, wrote on his Telegram channel on Sunday.
The post contained a map of Medvedev's suggested zone, which encompasses practically all of Ukraine save for a sliver of land along the Polish border."

Anything is possible but I still believe Russia will take the south to Odessa and link it up with transnistria not much else. The buffer zone may extend further but I doubt they plan of taking all that territory over., Time will tell.24alex wrote: ↑May 26th, 2025, 11:54 amNot looking good for Zelensky this Medvedev is a former prime minister and president of Russia and not one to mess around he's a serious politician and he means what he says

This war is going to expand to Europe, just read this.
" Western allies are no longer imposing any restrictions on the use of long-range weapons delivered to Ukraine for Kyiv against Russian military targets, the German chancellor said on Monday.
Western allies are not imposing any range restrictions on the use of long-range weapons delivered to Ukraine against Russian military targets, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday.
Merz pointed out that the restrictions have been lifted not only on German weapons.
"There are no longer any restrictions on the range of weapons delivered to Ukraine, neither by the UK, France, nor us. There are no restrictions by the US either," he said during a discussion forum organised by the public broadcaster, WDR.
He stated that Ukraine can now "defend itself, for example, by attacking military facilities in Russia.""
