Mark Zuckerberg's META released a Twitter competitor called Threads and he actually made a Tweet after 11 years.

Mark Zuckerberg posted his first tweet in more than a decade, a playful jab at Elon Musk on the day the Meta Platforms Inc. founder rolled out a much-anticipated Twitter substitute.
Meta’s Instagram officially unveiled Threads Wednesday, considered the most potent threat yet to the struggling social media service Musk owns. Hours later, Zuckerberg tweeted a photo of identical Spider-Men facing off."

I saw that twitter are now going to limit the number of tweets you can view in a day without paying
Thats a major shift in Twitter's model. At the moment politicians, celebrities and even world leaders all use twitter. But if they can only get their message out to people who have paid to join twitter then thats going to leave the door open for a rival to step in.
And the only rival big enough to step in is probably meta

Limiting the number of tweets you can read just as Meta releases their rival platform is as dumb a move as any I have ever heard of from a marketing angle.tacnet wrote: ↑July 6th, 2023, 1:29 pmI saw that twitter are now going to limit the number of tweets you can view in a day without paying

Musk is obvisouly a brilliant business man but his background is in engineering and building things. Sometimes I wonder if he really understands the how the internet works.
Just my opinion

What you do to keep and attract new users is enhance features not restrict or disable them, marketing 101 for dumbies. Why would you tick off your existing users just as a new platform run by no other than Zuckerberg is up and running. Meta's reach is huge as it is, Facebook and Instagram have a huge audience and they are bound to push the message to those platforms that Threads is now live.
Dumb move Mr Musk and co.,

Reauters.com is reporting Twitter is looking into suing Meta over Threads. I guess that cage fight between Musk and Zuckerberg is going to get more interesting to watch.

By the time it gets to court it will be too late.TheButcher wrote: ↑July 6th, 2023, 4:14 pmReauters.com is reporting Twitter is looking into suing Meta over Threads. I guess that cage fight between Musk and Zuckerberg is going to get more interesting to watch.
I guess the question is how many celebrities and politicians can Zuckerberg can lure over to threads ? They dont care which app they use, so long as its the same one everybody else is using and a lot of them are already on instagram.
Looks like Musk is driving twitter right into the ground

I cant see on what basis twitter could sue meta either. Its a social media platform, there must be hundreds of them out there that look just the same.

What stands out for me is:
Threads 500 characters and 5 minute videos.
That is a big advantage over Twitter, what Twitter needs to do is match those numbers. Plus any time a new platform pops up people are curious to go check it out and with a billion plus users Facebook has a lot of people who will be cross platforming over to Threads. My 1 cent on this.,

Crazy shit!
I was reading my news feed this morning er uhhmm afternoon and read that when installing the threads app automatically uses META's Instagram user db. So apparently you have to have an Instagram account to use threads. Then you can't delete your threads app or account without deleting your Instagram account.
