If they are not updating or taking care of support maybe just maybe they will sell the thing, I will email them now.

I'd be very surprised if you get a reply. Ive been trying to contact them since June via email, forum and ICQ with ZERO response. And we have 2 fully paid licenses !
Even if they do decide to sell it, my guess is it would take weeks to decipher their code (unless they are willing to provide full documentation or even some cunsultancy). Probably easier to simply start again
The backend incoming tracking is pretty straight forward from what i can see. It simply captures all the user data (ip, referrer, browser etc) from the http headers, writes it all to a logfile and returns a unique cookie to the browser to stop the user being tracked again. It then uses a pseudo cron to process the log files every minute
Outgoing tracking is also relatively simple. You simply redirect your links via /te3/out.php and you can either set it to 100% going throgh to the url they clicked on or you can skim it with say 70% chance of going through to the url and 30% chance of going out to a trade.
Its the algorithms that TE3 provides that make it so powerful ie being able to force, cap or set return ratios for each trade. Once your website is set up with it, you really dont want to let it go
Either way there is a ready made market here as PHP7.4 is now eol so one way or another we are all going to have to drop tradexpert and find something else and i think a lot of webmasters would happily pay say $10 or $20 a month for a script to replace it

Looks good, thank you Tacnet
For now we are going to carry out the analysis of the system after January 20 and we will validate if it is worth the investment of time. I would do it before but we are delivering 3 developments.
I will keep you informed

that is exactly what we are going to analyze
We would also validate if it would be something downloadable or just a WebService

It wouldn't really work as a web service
That would mean users would have to re-direct all their internal links to your domain which would totally screw up thier SEO optimization and their crawlability
Ive seen a couple of online services like this already but most serious webmasters stay away from them

Well we do something similar with our affiliate stats although thats obviously just the incoming tracking part. That took me a few weeks to put together but then I only had to get it working on our servers. This would need to be a shrink wrapped downloadable capable of working in different environments etcTheButcher wrote: ↑December 27th, 2022, 9:18 amHow long and how much money would it take to code a script with similar features?tacnet wrote: ↑December 26th, 2022, 10:43 pmI'd be very surprised if you get a reply. If I had nothing else on then I would give it a go but I guess your looking at a several months worth of development
Whatever the outlay, it's going to be worth it. Its one of those things that once its setup, you can just sit back and let the money roll in.

i have thought of making a trade script on and off for years , i dont think there is a big market for it nowdays i know of a few trade scripts that have been for sale over the years by owners who were done with adult scripts.

Your right, most of the trade scripts we have used over the years have long since given up and moved on. However, not ONE of them ever moved to a monthly subscription basis which is how pretty much ALL software is sold these days
We pay a monthly subscription for dozens of scripts and services these days. Including our password security, sitemaps, site monitoring and even our video player. There has never been a trade script that works the same way
If there were then a LOT more webmasters would use it and once they do, they are unlikely to give it up. Not when its only 10 or 20 bucks a month
Its the perfect business model. Even if you only have a handful of subscriptions, eventually it WILL pay for itself.

When i look back at all the scripts we pay on a monthly basis, its really a no brainer for the software developers
Take our video player for example. We've been using JW Player for over 10 years. Its a simple javascript that we host ourselves and costs us $10 a month. We could have written our own player years ago but its simply not worth the hasstle. I'd rather have something that I know is cross browser compatible and I can get support if ever i need it.
So in total, we have paid over $1,200 for the convenience of using their video player
Same for all our other software. If its available at a low monthly fee then we are likely to use it.

I am sure that $1,200 over ten years has made you a lot more money so it was worth ittacnet wrote: ↑December 28th, 2022, 6:38 pmWhen i look back at all the scripts we pay on a monthly basis, its really a no brainer for the software developers
