Your not seriously suggesting that we should carry on heating up the planet just because the odd lithium ion battery might catch fire ????

A tank full of petrol is far more explosive than a lithium ion battery !!!

Yeah these things do 0-60 in something like 2.3 seconds. Thats faster than a lamborghini !!!

I read somewhere that its getting to the point where it unsafe for them to accelerate any faster

yes! sup green giant??

Was Earth hotter during dinosaurs?
Dinosaurs lived in a warmer and more dynamic climate than ...
"Our results demonstrate that dinosaurs in the northern hemisphere lived in extreme heat, when average summer temperatures hovered around 27 degrees. As such, one can well imagine that there were summer days when temperatures crept above 40 degrees. However, winters were mild and wet," says Nicolas Thibault.

How hot was the Earth during the Jurassic period?
The climate of the Jurassic was generally warmer than that of present, by around 5 °C to 10 °C, with atmospheric carbon dioxide likely four times higher.

Can I be honest here, I personally do not like electric cars, I think they take too long to charge, have limited travelling distance and they all seem to look like futuristic aka ugly things except for the BMW i7 xDrive which looks similar to the gas powered 7 series. Why car manufacturers have to try make their electric cars look like crashed ufo's I can not understand.

Where in the hell are you going to charge electric cars where you have no parking on your property in London. Most older neighbourhoods in the UK for example with no drive way or garage on the property are going to find it hard to come home plug their electric car and get it charged.

Good luck providing adequate charging stations in London and other major cities, there just is no where to park as it is.

The dinosaurs were around for 250 million years so of course they went through lots of warm and cooler cycles. The point is that they ALL happened over thousands or even millions of years. Not 3 decades like we are seeing now !

I would agree with you there. If you dont have a drive way then charging can be a real problem. As it happens my brother is involved with rolling out the UK charging infrastructure. They are putting them in lamposts and they've just starting rolling out pop up chargers (that pop up out of the pavement) but yes there is a long way to go

Its worth bearing in mind that electric cars have only been around for the last 5 or 10 years. In that time they have more than doubled their miles per charge and halved their charging time. How long was the model T ford around before they developed a decent internal combustion engine ???

There is also these new graphene batteries that are being developed https://www.protoolreviews.com/graphene ... -nanotech/ that can hold a much bigger charge and can charge up in a fraction of the time of lithium ion. Up to 70X faster . Once they can scale that up to car batteries then problem solved

Electric cars are not perfect, not by a long way but unless you have a better alternative then we DONT have a choice. We simply can NOT going on pumping carbon into our atmosphere. And you might not believe in global warming but 98% of the world DOES and has ratified the Paris climate agreement and comitted to reducing their carbon emissions.

And I dont think anybody can argue that the world is not getting hotter. Not even brassmonkey lol

woo hoo! green death!!! later butch!

Do electric cars have negative effects?
Making electric cars creates more emissions

The raw materials for making the car have to be mined, and the process of mining creates a lot of greenhouse gases. Then the raw materials have to be refined before they can be used, which again emits more greenhouse gas.

Yeah but a petrol/diesel car emits greenhouse gasses every day of its life. Not just in the building process
