Its a free CMS ideally used for sites where full control isnt essential and as such we live with random shit rolling in on a regular basis - and use more solid solutions for more valuable/critical sites...

What i think brassy means is when they realize it's not a good change they will fix it in the 5.8.1 that will probably come out real soon.

Thats what I meant too. That realization never seem to reach the developers no matter how poorly their "upgrades" are received ... the new baddies are there to stay until we learn to live with them, at which point they will be replaced by something worse

all versions are a security threat. upgrade to their shit and they say oh we left holes in it

The change to the editor was rumoured for months, it is leading to another enhancement down the road where you can do full site editing form one screen.

Following up on what I just wrote on the Google thread, you have to realize WordPress is not a one man operation and things get done with consensus, sometimes we might not like the changes but they have their own logic to the changes. When they get feedback they re-think what needs changing on the next update.
