Best thing for the lgbtq community over there is to keep a low profile do their thing without attracting attention, at least they do not hang you or shoot you as in a few backward countries.
From what Ive read, most of the LGBTQ community are leaving the country asap. And its not just the gays either. One straight guy who happened to own a bar that was frequented by gays was arrested and had his bar shut down !!

None of the straight people in Russia are going to want to frequent with gays or associate with them in any way incase they fall foul of this ridiculous law !

The point is they shouldn't HAVE to leave !!! Nobody should be forced out of their own country because of their sexuality

The Russians are orthodox Christians and they have their own family values. It is their country their laws and if you do not like the law in a country do not move there or if you live there leave.Every country has laws we might not approve of,I bet some of our laws are not liked by other countries. We always think whatever we say and do is the only way and every one else needs to follow our laws. That is not how thew world is.

What is the saying, when in Moscow do as the Russians. Their society is not pro-lgbtq otherwise they would not pass this law, it would lead to mass protests. We always think what we stand for is the only way in life, I am for lgbtq rights but I understand when it is not what other peoples want in their country. We have to stop judging the world with our values and ideas or else we always end up in a war.

I agree with you but I think its a bit more fundamental than that

Nowdays discriminatory laws like this only EVER happen in dictatorships or authoritatian states. Think about how women are treated in Iran or Afgahnistan, or how China treats the Uyghur muslims and now, how gays are treated in Russia or Uganda. In the past, the west was just as bad in the way we treated black people but now we recognise that was wrong

Wherever people have a right to vote (and a free press) then this kind of discrimination does NOT stand.

I doubt the Russian people have any problem with the LGBTQ community, it's Putin who has the problem and what he says is law

This is just another example of why democracy MUST be upheld around the world.

democracy is the same. they are just better at hiding things. look at that fucking circus in florida. do you think kids should be at drag shows?      adult performers! hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

The Supreme Court refused on Thursday to revive a Florida law that banned children from “adult live performances” such as drag shows. The court's brief order gave no reasons, which is typical when the justices act on emergency applications, and a First Amendment challenge to the law will continue in the lower courts.Nov 16, 2023

I read on the news they announced a presidential election in early in 2024 if the Russian people are not happy with their current president they will elect some one else, that is how it works. We will see who they elect, if they elect Putin that tells you they are happy with the way he is leading their country.

LOL your joking. Running for re-election against who ??????

The main opposition leader (Alexei Nevalny) has been locked up in prison for 19 years for trying to expose corruption in Putin's government. That was after Putin tried to poison him with Novichok (a chemical nerve agent) but when that failed, he declared the party an extremist organisation and had all the leaders thrown in jail.

Prior to that, another opposition leader (Boris Nemtsov) was shot dead just yards from the Kremlin the day before he was due to lead an anti-Putin March. Conveniently, all the Kremlin's CCTV cameras that would have filmed the incident were turned off that day for "maintenance"

Thats not to mention people like Alexander Litvinenko (poisoned with Polonium 210 - one of the most deadliest substances on the planet - after criticising Putin's regime), Boris Berezovsky (found hanged in his bathroom after publicly opposing Putin) and of course Prigozhin who we all wacthed when his plane fell out of the sky a few months back

Of course Putin is going to win. Anybody who tries to run against him ends up dead or in jail.

Ive just seen on CNN that Alexei Navalny (the main opposition leader in Russia and Putin's biggest political threat) has been reported "missing" from prison.

"Lawyers for Alexey Navalny said Monday they have lost contact with the jailed Russian opposition leader, who was believed to be imprisoned in a penal colony about 150 miles east of Moscow, and his whereabouts are unknown. "

It wouldn't surprise me if Putin has had him killed before the upcoming election
