The end of an era in cars

This was the car to drive in 1990, the Cadillac Brougham, I still think it is absolutely beautiful. Quite honestly it said American luxury not some of the ugly junk car manufacturers are putting out today.

I saw one this morning at the Costco parking lot and spent a good 30 minutes talking to the owner. He bought it new and it looked gorgeous. Only has 52,000 miles on it no dings no dents no scratches.

Brought back good memories when American cars had class and presence not some tiny front wheel drive hatchback or electric contraption that do not make you lust for one.

In todays traffic smaller cars are an advantage, finding parking spaces is bad enough for me and my FIAT 500.

Cars aren't small in the USA. Back in the 80's following the oil crisis cars got smaller but that didn't last. Now it's mainly trucks and SUVs over here. If you want a smaller car, pickings are slim nowadays. I'm partial to sub-compacts but I finally gave in and bought my 1st SUV in May. I can use the extra cargo space for oxygen and other crap that I haul around with me nowadays. I picked up a black 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross L AWD. Basic, affordable, reliable, and retains value.

Roads here are not as big as in the US homes especially older ones do not have any where to park a car so finding parking is a problem.

Efficiency and horse power has come a long way since those cars. A 1.5L turbo 4 cylinder from Honda puts out more power

Lexus and Infiniti took Detroit by Surprise in 1990. The big three Detroit car companies made a fast track to downsizing.

Yep the original LS400 was a great car I remember it well, they messed up with the 5th generation they went with a twin turbo V6 and dumped their V8, that was the end for me.,
