I think even with targeted traffic these days you should allow at least 1500 - 2000 hits.

Hell yeah you could halve those figures... go back 15 years you would know after 300 - 500 hits ! mind you the traffic volume was not as large then so I would say that is a large factor to take into consideration these days also.
