what is mycelium?
Mycelium (plural mycelia) is a root-like structure of a fungus consisting of a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae.
Mycelium grows a dense network of long, microscopic fibers that grow through the substrate like a superhighway!

If you ever had yeast infection in your throat due to antibiotics you would never want to think of fungi.

my first thought is that a spiders web was used as a metaphor due to the simplicity of the thought process behind the less than average 3rd grader. my second thought is that the creator/s of this metaphor may have also had a very simplistic understanding or knew of the low average intelligence of a human.razor wrote: ↑August 24th, 2023, 6:23 pmWhat are you really getting at?gotonudecom wrote: ↑August 19th, 2023, 3:59 pmwhat is mycelium?

A spiders web was used because most people might know what that is.
When I use mycelium in a conversation rarely does anyone have a clue what it is.
Even after I explain, with links to educational material, they still cannot figure it out.
For those that due comprehend mycelium, they completely understand how it is the perfect metaphor for the Internet.
Marketing dumbs things down to attract more people.
I do not do this for my business. I don't like idiots.

Mycelium grows efficiently by carrying out essential ecological functions that benefit plants and the entire ecosystem. It enhances nutrient availability, aids in disease suppression, improves soil structure, prevents erosion, and supports plant resilience. Through these mechanisms, mycelium plays a vital role in maintaining the health and vitality of plant communities and ecosystems.
The internet operates efficiently as a global network that benefits individuals and communities by promoting information sharing, facilitating communication, driving economic growth, supporting education, enhancing social connectivity, ensuring information resilience, and enabling global collaboration. Its widespread impact has transformed the way we live and interact in our interconnected world.
