I've played with it, and I'd say you need a lot of patience. Having some video editing software helps too. I've used YouTube's browser editor on my desktop and it was painfully slow.

Like TikTok, YouTube shorts seem to be the way to go now.

Like other platforms, don't rely on YouTube to promote for you. I've had a lot of moments of "Why haven't I heard of this YouTuber before?" and some have been around for over 10 years.

Play it safe as you can. I've been flagged for keywords and URLs.

And if you get approached by YouTube for monetization, accept it. An associate of mine was coming up fast on YouTube, they recognized it, but he turned down their monetization offer. The first time he appealed a flag for content, YouTube realized he used up a lot of bandwidth, but they didn't make money off it, so they completely banned him.
