can this type of link trade site be built
where you have any one come along add their link to your site and your site links back to them, but their link gets automatically checked every night and deleted if they remove your link?
Just call me Joe it is my name after all

The idea is good and I like it but you do not want people signing up adding their link to your site without you manually approving it, well I don;t. What if their site has illegal content. I would have the automatic signup and link verification but manually approve all links first.

This script will do all that. It's been around for ages. If nothing else, you could use it as a starting point, do some mods, dress it up

Just passing by and saw this so I thought I would jump in.
Yes, that functionality was standard in most TGP scripts. It is pretty easy to do. I would imagine that most link trading scripts would already have that built in but I am not familiar with what scripts are out there these days so I can't say that for sure.
Edited in: I see Heidi has jumped in with a link to an old reliable script with that functionality. We cross posted.

/folder/install to run, I think it could be permissions but the instructions do not tell you what permission settings each file or directory has to be set at, any ideas HeidiHoe.
Thanks

This info is contained in readme.html inside main folder. It usually is a good idea to read files that are named readme. Just saying

I'm pretty good with installing scripts but this one I can not get to figure out find what CHMOD permissions to set the various files and directories to if you know what i mean.
Thanks for your help .
"Installation steps:
Connect with FTP to the public folder of your server where the rest of your Web site is.
TIP: The public folder is usually called "public_html", "www", "site" or "htdocs".
TIP: Learn how to FTP files, read my simple FTP and CHMOD tutorial.
Create a new folder where you will install LinkMan. Name it anything you like, for example "links" or "linkman".
Example: /public_html/links
Corresponding URL: http://example.com/links
Upload all LinkMan files to your server. PHP files must be transferred in ASCII mode and images in BINARY mode.
TIP: Most FTP clients will select the proper transfer mode automatically so you needn't worry about this.
Open links/install in your browser, for example (modify to your URL):
http://example.com/links/install"

It's been ages since I've fucked around with this script. I do recall running it on several sites without issues.Ricks-Cams wrote: ↑November 5th, 2022, 12:31 pmHeidiHoe wrote: ↑November 5th, 2022, 12:24 pmSetup guide is inside the docs folder within the zip. Usually 755 to execute and 644 for writable is sufficient. If it's not use 777 and 666 to install. I would test it and turn them down after install to lowest setting where the script still functions.

Rick I am far from a PHP pro but I will hazard an educated guess that your server is running 7.4 and the script requires PHP 5.5 or newer, bit your version is more advanced and the script will not run.
