How do you know if the individual you are about to hire to do your site SEO knows what he or she is doing. I am talking with 2 people now to hire them but what should I be asking them before paying them to start.

So many times I asked a writer for their website to see their work and they said they do not have a site, that to me is not acceptable, you need your own website if you are in the online writing business.

References is what I have asked for and asked if I may contact them, if they say yes then I am sure they are legit, if they don't want to give the contacts to their references then I move on to the next guy.

A lot of so called SEO experts will simply run this against your site and feedback the results to you for a ridiculous fee

The less you pay the less qualified person you hire and they can do more damage than good, keep that in mind. I once paid $125 to a guy who claimed he would get me on page one for 2 key words, he fucked it all up.

There is no such thing as an SEO expert, I have posted a long explanation here before. Not doing it again.

References can be faked.

I do not want YOU contacting my clients. Why would someone give you a list of their clients?

I don't have an SEO services website and I do SEO for multi million dollar companies. Hell I don't have a services site and I have been selling my services since 1995.
There are hundreds of sites to list your services, thus no need to create your own website. My business is almost 90% referrals.

SEO is considered one of the most competitive businesses online today! Just because an SEO service provider is NOT listed at the top, does NOT mean they are not good.

Everyone wants to be paid upfront. This is why escrow was created.

If you can not afford to throw a little money to the wind, learn SEO yourself.

I can understand why.. I am found through references, thus I can not fake the references and Thus I don't need a site. makes very somewhat unique to most people.

The type of SEO I do, I do not want to tell you about, so I would not put it out there. Thus no site.
