SEO Series - Keywords

#1

Post by lustxseo » January 25th, 2022, 10:31 am

Hi everyone, thought I could contribute to the community with some info, and possibly help you better understand SEO.

So, here is some Keyword info that could help you in the future.

Keywords

First of all, you have to place yourself in the mindset of a user, and always ask yourself questions from a searcher's point of view before doing your research, like "What am I looking for?", "What is my final destination?", "What is my intent?".
Everything is far easier when you have a certain plan in mind, so let's lay out the foundations.

Short And Long Tail Keywords

Short tail keywords contain 1-3 words, although at this point in time ranking for a 1 word KW is pretty much impossible unless you've got a big website, and if that's the case, then you don't really need to read this guide. However, 2-3 word keywords are still relatively short and you should go for them when there is enough room, just make sure to analyze all the data beforehand.
Now, some would argue that 3-word KWs are long-tail, but I'd disagree, especially in porn, they are most likely pornstar name + something, 2+word category + pornstar, porn, or something similar, and a lot of variations that pretty much make them short tail.

Long Tail is a bag of mixed feelings personally, they can help you rank for the short tail as well, but building something around them is way harder than it would be otherwise. But if you do manage to strike one that fits just right, go for it, there is far more to gain compared to short tail.

Density

Density is a value of a certain percentage of total text reserved for keywords. The average of 2% is something of a golden standard (for example if you've got 1000 words, 20 words should go for keywords), you can't go wrong with it. There was recently a keyword density discussion where I went in-depth on why it matters, despite not officially being a direct SEO metric. Let's say you're going for a long tail keyword, there is simply no space for you to keep within the magic 2% density, it's either going to go below, or way above that, with the latter being the most common case.

There are certain rules for certain topics and keywords, determining what the optimal density should be, depends on a lot of factors, and it usually gets down to checking out around your competition and seeing what they're doing.

Intent

We can split intent in 4 categories - Informational, Navigational, Transactional, and Commercial.

Informational - A user wants to find out more about a subject, or needs an answer for his question.
Navigational - A user is searching for something specific, like a certain type of website, and you're acting as a navigational point towards it.
Transactional - A user is looking to make a purchase for a product, entertainment, or pretty much any digital good.
Commercial - A user is researching certain brands, companies, services, etc.

Intent is one of the most important metrics of a keyword, it helps us better understand what the user wants to do by typing something in their search bar. Let's face it, all of these intents serve as a launching pad for you, a webmaster, to make a buck. The major difference is how it fits with the style of your website, are you running a tube, blog, directory, or a paysite? Choose your intent wisely, so the user actually reaches your site and finds your content valuable. Besides actually benefiting you directly, it also helps lower your bounce rate and keeps people more engaged with your site, increasing efficiency.

Volume, Competition, Difficulty, Number Of Results

Volume indicates an average monthly number of searches. It's your basic guideline, a way for you to determine whether or not a keyword is worth the effort ranking for, or how much time and resources you should put towards it.

Competition is an artificial factor, and each of the online tools you're using have their own way of determining how much competition there is for a given keyword. It's still worth paying attention to because it can be a tipping point in whether or not you're going to decide on a keyword.

Dificulty is another factor, quite similar to the competition, it takes multiple elements in consideration, and ranks a keyword on a scale of 1-100. It is pretty much everyone's starting point, but sometimes it can be deceiving, and you can rank for a keyword regardless of its difficulty index.

Number Of Results is simple, it's... um... number of results that pop up in google search for a selected keyword.
Number of results is often an overlooked category, chances are you're going to find a keyword that has less than 100 results, despite initially having a higher difficulty index.
For instance "what is asmr porn" has 89 results at the moment of writing this, with a difficulty index of 34, and 720 volume. If you have a "smaller" site, with low DA, or even 0, that might seem like mission impossible, but it's not. Check out your competition, extract data, and create something better than they have and you're guaranteed to rank. It might take some time, maybe even months, but eventually you are going to skyrocket to page 1.
In the grand scheme of things, 720 volume is still low, you can certainly find bigger volume keywords with other metrics similar to the one in the example and still rank for it.

So when should you not pursue a keyword? When your competition is too massive, when they all have content users are searching for, insanely high DA, and colossal traffic. That's especially true for tubes, more often than not you're going against the big boys, and simply have to settle with long tail keywords.

Other Keyword Tips

When selecting a keyword, you need to have a goal. Low competition, low traffic keywords are only worth it if you reach top 3 results, and even then, nr.1 spot is ideal.
Okay, nr.1 spot is always the best one, but if you're ranking for higher traffic keywords, it's not the only spot where you'll extract some value. Essentially, going for the first page is more than enough.

Besides all of these, you should take the age of the competition's page that's ranking for a certain keyword into consideration. Google rewards newer stuff, but whether you're going to keep that spot depends on how relevant your content ends up being compared to your competition, and how well the users who pick you interact with your website.

Don't stuff your content with keywords. Although this falls under density, it's worth saying that going overboard will bring negative SEO to your website.

Finally, you will learn how and when to use a keyword and which ones work by seeing data, and it takes time, a lot of it. If you happen to have a page that doesn't rank well, go back and change things, maybe even remove that keyword and place a new one, or just update your content, refresh it a bit and then wait, because that's what SEO is, a waiting game.

Lustxseo how do you feel about naming images , for example I got advice from one member here to rename the top image to "sponsorchat_adult_webmaster_forum.jpg" Do you feel it is good to name images on a site to correspond to the site theme or does it not matter for seo.

Yeah, image filenames matter, it's better if they're in line with the content of an image, also you might want to add an alt tag to it as well for further context.

Put a link to the image.
Can not give advice on the title/ SEO of an image, without seeing it.

if it is the one below, then I would have added "logo"
sponsorchat_adult_webmaster_forum-logo.jpg

With the same or similar alt text.
