auto SSL installed (AGAIN) why?

#1

Post by Everlpn » September 15th, 2020, 7:04 am

My hosting company provides SSL for every domain on your account by default. I think that is a good thing since Google likes SSL sites. But why is it I get emails from the server saying "Auto SSL installed" on domains that already have it installed ,is someone taking it off or trying to hack my sites?

You can usually turn that off depending on the host. Auto SSL is a cron that takes self assigned and expired/almost expired certs and replaces them with new ones.

Paid certs are a little different and last longer

You can buy other ones if he free is nit what you want, but I see no reason to pay for something that works and comes for no cost.

The bottom line is they all keep Google happy and your site is not going to get dinged by big G which is why we all use the SSL now a days.

when you move hosts do you have to change anything or can you transfer the sites thru cpanel and they will operate as usual.
