Aly text for images is a good way for search period. Not just for Google but other search engines, I heard this a long time ago.

Yep, alt text and title text are important. Title is what will show up when you hover over the link/image, too.
It's apparently also important to know that they're called either alt text or attribute, and not "alt tags"... :p

without an actual eye and brain it can't. there are other ways to fool an ai. won't go into that. right now its alt text. im testing things

Can't spam it like you could like the old days, though, and it won't help much for basic terms, but still useful for helping with long tails and not just image searches.

Old news. Alt is actually supposed to describe the image for the visually impaired. Title tag would be more suited for the "not" spam. People used to stuff the hell out of the alt tag 15-20 years ago. It sort of went out of vogue over the years but reemerged again with image search. I used to be one of the stuffers years ago but somehow became lazy over time. It's one of the many SEO things I should be doing but I don't.

Back in the days when I used to write sites using notepad this was second nature. Using WP it takes conscious thought to remember to add it. It takes additional effort and I guess I've gotten complacent. One day I said fuck it... and been lazy ever since.
