I'm not in the EU and I'm not using the damn thing. Simply putting up a plugin does not make you GDPR compliant. Unless you're located in a jurisdiction that has a cookie law, why do you want to annoy your visitors with the plugin? Wordpress had a sample privacy policy a couple versions back, I'm assuming it's still in there. Take a look at it and you'll get a clue of what's required to be GDPR compliant, or do a search. A simple little plugin will not solve the issue for you.

I think I read that Google was fined a couple times under GDPR.
