how important is Alexa to you

I have sites with 1M plus and some in the low 200K range, how do you get down to under 100K after years of running a site.

The way i understand alexa works is that their toolbar needs to be installed in order for them to collect data. How many people actually still install toolbars and how many have the toolbar enabled and surfing porn? My guess is alexa ranking isn't very accurate.

Years ago , there was a bot out there that you could run and shoot your alexa thru the roof. I haven't given alrxa any thought in ages.

At least that is how alexa worked a decade or so ago when I read up on it. Perhaps that's changed...

Thank you HeidiHoe, who installs tool bars this day and age, and who cares what a 3rd party says about stats. I have used a few tool bars years ago and realized they were not for me.
By the way Alexa used to be a free service but they now charge form it last I checked. I may be wrong because I have not gone there in a long time, but I could careless what any third party says.

I feel dumb to say this but I paid like $5 a year for the little floating thing that says your site is safe, secure blah blah blah and what not, but a few days in the month it never shows up because the limit is reached, and the only way to show it i to pay a lot more for the service which I won't.
