My thoughts on Hybrid vs Native Applications
Recently I started developing hybrid mobile apps instead of writing separate android apps in Kotlin and iOS apps in OBJ-C or Swift and I gotta say things have definitely changed.
In the past you really only had the Native option for production applications as hybrid apps were very much lacking and essentially just web views.
There have been plenty of non native gaming engines like Corona SDK, but for non gaming apps there were not many options and the options we did have were very much lacking.
But now with the current state of hybrid development I cant really see a need to write Native applications, unless you are creating gaming apps and even then with engines like Unity there is no reason to go native either.
Years ago the big advantage of native apps were being able to do push notifications and access cameras and sensors, but with the advances is mobile bundlers and builders for HTML/Javascript its very much doable now. And you can create a full mobile application using a hybrid framework or builder that lacks no features at all.
If you are a mobile app developer give hybrid development a try.
What are your thoughts? Have you recently developed hybrid mobile apps? If so what was your experience?

Nope... count me out. This old dog doesn't feel up to learning this (mobile apps) new trick. Other than my non-productive tshirt shop I'm not doing any mainstream. You can't really get porn apps into the download stores. There's no incentive for me at the moment. If this changes I shall scour the web until I know everything I need to know to create apps
What happened to Andyr? I haven't seen him post here in ages. I miss him!

Of course there is! You can monetize them with ads and you could also sell pro versions thru the download store.

How much overlap is there in the 2 languages for writing apps?

Its not so much the languages, there are some structure changes between the languages sure and obviously the languages are definitely different but the biggest difference is the platform tools and api's.
You can use the same or similar logic for both platforms but the libraries and apis are different.
Accessing iOS component i different that accessing Android component.

I'm the complete opposite, I understand online marketing and its a lot of what I do, but honestly what really interests me is engineering and creating new products and software.fetishnews wrote: ↑December 12th, 2018, 12:54 pmThe thread had me curious and I was reading online about this, there is so much we as affiliates do not even know exists out there. A lot of the adult industry is way behind on tech which is a far cry from the days of the adult industry influencing mainstream media formats such as Blueray or HDdvd. I'm not saying there is no innovation in the adult industry but its not as powerful as it once was.
There are a lot of tools that mainstream uses that can benefit the adult industry.
