Online porn started when?

[donnie]

I hear 1996 being thrown around all the time, how was it to make money in those early years.

[TheButcher]

Very close, there was no high speed internet, it was 9600 baud dial up modems, no smart phones or mobile devices, content was pretty much just from ussenet groups, circle jerk sites and dialers were where the money was...... and a lot less paysites .

[bill]

still a lot of cj sites abound

[Toons-man]

I started in 2011 this is way before my time, what is cj.

[linux]

cj = circle jerk traffic

The original days money was made from the newsgroups -
Long time before Google, AOL, Bing, Yahoo, etc.

One of the first programs I signed up to in 1998 was "Goldrush" what a great name for an affiliate program. How many programs are still around after 20 years?

[cimage]

The oldest sites I have seen are from 1996 so that year has to be when it all began.

[chilli.domains]

1996 sounds right

[monsta]

It will never end that I know

[jlinkz]

It will never end that I know

from your mouth to god's ears

[wetnwild]

I think it was 1996 from the stuff I read online about it

[born2bewild]

It's already illegal in many Middle east and Asian countries.

[AlexO]

It's already illegal in many Middle east and Asian countries.

And the traffic from those countries is shit anyways who cares.

[Emil]

I have not seen any sites that say 1995, so '96 must be the first year.

[Mitch]

Any idea which site was the first
