I have nightly back up service on my server, and there is a file called 112418.tar.gz I want to download to my server, and when i drag it in Filezilla to my desktop I get this error message "critical file transfer error" what is that.

Just thinking out loud here, can it be your local hard disk does not have enough space to allow the download.

Could it be the file permission? If it is, can you download from within CP? Or you could use putty to fix

Why does a host have to allow a zip file download this does not make sense.

Not permission from the host. File permission. You know... the 755, 644 etc. You can usually change file permissions using the FTP but only if the file permits external access. If it doesn't, you need to access it from within thru the control panel, file manager, console, etc. You can connect with putty, navigate to the file, change file permission setting and then download it anyway you please.greatpornlinks wrote: ↑December 22nd, 2018, 8:21 amWhy does a host have to allow a zip file download this does not make sense.

Your host needs to get their act together or you need to move to a real host.

Hosts can disable certain settings any day , this is a hosting side issue you're experiencing.
