what is .DS_Store

I'm at my boyfriend's and forgot my laptop, so he installed filezilla on his Macbook so I can change a few links on my blog, I see this file .DS_Store now on his desktop, is it a virus or some thing I downloaded from my sites.

Its a config file not a virus You can look at whats inside by opening up the file in a text editor.

Oh okay so not to be concerned, thanks for the information. I was hoping I had not downloaded some virus on. my bf's laptop. Now I feel better.

I se this all the time in ftp, it's not dangerous or a bad thing. I just delete it.
