Let me explain about "categories" on WordPress
I have been asked today to create a new category on https://www.sponsorchat.com/blog and I did. The same person told me "aint no damn indian category. nevermind i dont have time to mess around"
I am not looking to fallout with the individual or start some drama, my goal here is to explain how categories on wordpress work. Unless there is a post made in a category, that category does not show up in the side bar (or where ever else you list categories) capeesh.
So yes there is a category on the blog for "Indian" but without at least one post in that category, than that category will not be visible.
I thought everyone who uses WP knows this.
Peace

You could change "hide_empty" to FALSE if you really want to show them..

Not a genius and wait till you get to my age. I'm 72 and doing this to kill my time and make some extra pocket money. So my next request is where do you do this change if not in the administration page.

Open your theme's (or child theme's) functions.php file in an editor and add the following filter:
Code: Select all
add_filter( 'widget_categories_args', 'force_widget_cat_args' );
function force_widget_cat_args($cat_args) {
$cat_args['hide_empty'] = 0;
return $cat_args;
}

Yeah right! Me and my buddy Google. It's amazing... You type in "how do I.... bla bla bla" and it spits out the answer!

Good call. I was going to mention it being in functions.php, but you know, some themes are different and I was being lazy, sorry for any confusion. :pHeidiHoe wrote: ↑September 8th, 2018, 3:05 pmOpen your theme's (or child theme's) functions.php file in an editor and add the following filter:Code: Select all
