Yesterday a friend of mine came over in his EV, I'll not mention the name because that is not important. he said the range is 280 miles on a full charge. He also said he does not charge over 80% and let it drain below 20% to preserve the health of the batteries. Which in my head means 60% of the 280 quoted mile range and that comes out to 168 miles. I then asked him how much his range was with the heater on in the winter, he said around 140 miles on a full charge. So you have to consider real world and practical conditions when looking at the range of these sewing machine sounding cars.
Oh I hate the sound ev's make did i mention that part.

OK so what alternative would you suggest ?TheButcher wrote: ↑June 10th, 2024, 10:57 amYesterday a friend of mine came over in his EV, I'll not mention the name because that is not important. he said the range is 280 miles on a full charge. We can see the devestation burning fossil fuels is doing to the planet (despite skeptics like brassy who think its all some big conspiracy). The evidence is all around us and its irrefutable. Petrol cars pump out way too much CO2. Scientists all over the world are telling us we need to STOP and stop now. We cant go with hydrogen because its far too dangerous, we cant go with bio fuels because we simply dont have the capacity to produce them and planting trees takes decades to make any difference. EVs is the only solution we have as far as motor transport is concerned.

I can live with them as long as they are not forced down our throats, sell them along side gas, diesel and hybrids, let the buyers decide what they want.

The only electric car I like is the Tesla Model S. It looks good, goes fast and is nice inside.
