He had no choice. He knew that a large number of them were going to anyway.

Anyway, Trump doesn't need congress to tell him to release the files. He can simply order the DOJ to release the files right now

After 10 months of trying to block this, I think Trump has realized that a huge number of republicans were about to vote in defiance of him so now he's flipped to try and get on the right side. Im sure he has another trick up his sleeve to stop the release. Probably hoping the Senate will block it but Im not sure even they will side with him

He realized the votes were there in the House to get it done so he wanted to save face and say do it.

WOW. I knew there would be a big swing but even I didn't realize it would be that big.

"US House approves bill to force release of Epstein files in near-unanimous vote - 427 to 1"

There's only 433 members in the house. This is a HUGE defeat for Trump and it also means the bill is veto-proof meaning if it reaches President Trump's desk and he rejects it, there would be enough votes to override the president's veto.

The Senate passed with unanimous consent
The House voted 427-1 for releasing the files, Rep Clay Higgins was the only no vote

This is starting to look a win for transparency and the files being released.

Yep this is moving real quick. I guess it's just a case of what information they release and how much of it will be redacted. Im sure Trump has already been through it with a fine tooth comb

Either way, there is no stopping this now.

For once both Republicans and Democrats are voting for the right thing. It is hard to justify to the American public and by definition the voters how you can be against releasing the files. This Epstein and his cohorts have caused immense physical and psychological harm to a huge number of children and women. Let the damn truth come out and the chips fall where they may.

The big question now is whether the DOJ decides to withhold evidence due to the on-going investigation that Trump ordered just a few days ago. He ordered the DOJ to look into Epstein's relationships with prominent democrats (tellingly there were NO republicans on Trump's list of people to investigate, just democrats). Even though they had already done an investigation which concluded in July when they announced they had found "no evidence to charge any additional persons"

This was clearly another attempt by Trump to stop the release but I think if he tries to use it, there will be uproar.

Whatever happens this has been hugely damaging for Trump and, I suspect this will cost him a LOT of seats come the mid-terms

The Trump peace plan for Ukraine took over the new cycle and this got put off , why can the news not handle more than one big story at a time.
